My MP3 Sucks

I am starting to thing my car is a peice of s***. The backend sounds like it is falling off everything squeaks, especially when it is cold. It rides 100% different on bumbs since i bought it, sometimes it feels like you'll lose control when you hit bumps. The only thing is the stereo it rocks, but everything else blows. What sucks even more is how much I owe on it compared to the blue book value. I would actually lose 1000 if I sold it for the highest blue book value. ANyone got any thoughts on what to do??

While I hear you on the clunking noise of the swaybar (bushings should typically last 3-4 years before the start wearing away like ours do every 2 months), the squeaking suspension kind of comes along with the car. Unfortunately, it seems that higher performance suspension parts (our Tokicos for instance) are much more susceptible to squeaking when its cold out. You didn't buy a luxury vehicle here, you bought a Sport Compact Car with some of the best handling in the world.

I'm not sure what you're talking about on bumps though. Are you talking about going over bumps and being pulled all over the street with the bumps? If so, that is just another by-product of driving a beautiful handling car like the MP3. Its tight suspension just sticks to the road. Its tough to get used to.

I've had my fair share of swaybar issues and "why does this squeak" complaints, but I wouldn't consider trading in my car for a microsecond. I plan on keeping this baby for life, and turning her into my beast project car when I get tired of her and what something new :).

i agree with what was sadi above about the handling, andyou must have know it was a stiff car when you bought it.

as for the value, welcome to the owrld of new cars. new cars take the biggest hit in depreciation in the first year of ownership. if you really want to get rid of the car, wait untill your second year is up, and you might break even. (unless you took a 5-6 year loan or you paid over sticker for it)

Did you not test drive this car before buying it? Did you not do your homework on it? I did and I must say that... yes, there are a few problems that some owners have (bushings..etc.) , but so far it is all covered under warranty - we just need to milk the warranty as much as we need to. Heck, I have even received new floor mats because of the heel plate coming undone.......does that effect the way my car drives? No, but ITS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY so I took it. Besides, you must expect for there to be some things wrong (hopefully minor things) with a limited first time Production car. Its like they kinda need to see the quirks roll out. I bet that when the new MSP owners have their cars for a few weeks or so we will all hear of little things that eeek them too. Overall, the Mp3 is a better car then I originally thought. I would not sell it. You may just need to get familiar with it........Do some Mods and then you will grow to love it even more!

I think all MP3 owners know what you mean but we have accepted the car for what it is. Unfortunity in life everything has a trade off. Your not to get anincredible handling car for under $20K like our and not have some issues. Hell we can hang with most prosches and they are running over $60K. CHeck out the back of road and track magazine, the only car to best the MP3 in the slalom was the Porsche 911 GT2.

I think your like a lot of people and are realizing that sport compact cars aren't all the've been bosted to be. Especialy in the North East where its cold as hell 8 months out of the year and the road will take out even a forged rim in a heart beat.

My advise would be to find a cheap winter car that doesn't piss you off.

That is what I do - I have a Nissa Sentra 1994 for my winter car. I love it. It has a winter tires on it and spare all seasons on american racing rims. When I was going to college I kinda Hooked up this car so it was not sooooooo boring. It now has a nice sound system and tint and a bunch other goddies, this way I dont feel as bad when my Mp3 is stored away for all of those cold months.

I hear ya on the squeaking s***. Hell, I'm getting my struts replaced now under warranty. I know the car was going to squeak some due to the tight suspension. This is my 2nd winter with her. Last year, sure i had some squeak from the bushings and stuff. But this year, the struts are HORRIBLE. Like, I can't even hear the damn stereo any more horrible. So, I ask them to maybe grease or lube the struts, as that's what it sounds like it needs. But, of course, they get more money if they just replace the entire struts under warranty. So, why would I complain? I'm getting 4 new struts. Oh darn.

It's a gorgeous car, I love it. The squeaks are something I could get used to if they stayed the same as last year....but their getting much worse over time. AND there is NO excuse for the way Mazda is handling the bushing situation, and that is the reason why I am considering getting rid of it. It'll be a year in Nov. since Mazda admitted that there was indeed a problem with the rear bushings....and still no WORKING fix. Nuff said.

They fixed mine last year. there was another part # and a service bullitten put out according to my dealer. Of corse i had to tell them to look for one. Either way they swapped them out and its been fine ever since.

what do you expect when you buy a car with all of the crap that they put on it like ours? To be a smooth ride??
Not at all. Our cars were made to handle the road, esp. tight curves, at 60mph rather than 20mph so they have the items on them to help with control. I would be thankful that mazda made this car esp. for the price that you got it for, given the stuff they put on it and the kick ass stereo.
If you wanted a smooth ride then I suggest you trade it in for a caddy.

Just for the record, this is not my first car with a aftermarket suspension setup. I knew this was going to be somewhat rough way before I bought it. I didn't care. Actually, and honestly, Mazda or RAcing Beat, Tokico or whoever, did a great job of combining ride quality with amazing handling. I mean, she's stiff, but she doesn't shake the s*** of you eithier. I've driven MUCH MUCH worse. ever driven a Vette? or a Rustang?

......If I could just get rid of the clunk. I'd be happy.

annikin12, I usually don't flame ppl, but you are a ******* idot! Quit whinning about how you are yor car is "eeeeehhhha its making nosies" and "eeeeehhhha I'm going to loose money if I trade it in"
I'm sorry but I'm just in a bad mood and I dont feel like simpithising whith a whinny little b****. If you dont like it, sell it to some one who will appreacate it, take your 1g loss (yes thats what happens when you buy a new car and use it) and buy a ******* mini van! I could under stand if you were having legitimat problems with it, i.e. constantly breaking down or somthing like that, but a little rattling noise and "the feeling like you'll lose control when hitting bumps" are things that will happin on a $18,000 car with high performance suspention.
Did you not test drive it? My car made noise from the day I bought it, its a very noisy car. If I wanted somthing that was quit I would have bought a ******* luxury car!.. god damn. however I can under stand you dissatis faction with the anti-sway bar bushings and I think that mazda needs to do somthing about this MINOR!!!! problem.

Whoa whoa...relax man. He's not whining THAT bad, just doesn't like the clunks, etc mostly. Cut him a little bit of slack.

I know, I know... I was kinda harsh, but saying his mp3 sucks and blows and how its a piece of s*** and how he wants to trade it in is just complaning about NOTHING!! I see this all the time at the honda dealer, people will come in and complane that there suv is making noise and vibrating at 70 then we have to take it out and almost double the speed limit for this costomer and find that there is the slightest little tiny shimmy... It happens all the time "My car jerks when the a/c cycles" "My cigartte lighter isn't hot enough" " Theres a whinning nosie when I'm driving in reverse" "My antenna makes noise when it goes up and down" "when I push the gas pedal my engine makes louder noise" "My hard seat hurts my declate little ass when I sit on it"
"My a/c isn't cold enough and my heater isnt hot enough" "I think my breaks are going to fail because I had a dream where I got in to an accedent, take the whole breaking system apart and inspect it."(yes that one really happend) "When I hit a bump on the road I can feel it" "My gas pedal is to hard to push down "My door is hard to push open" I could go on and on. I can totally under stand if it was a severe problem or somthing... but a car is a machine, its not a ******* magic cloud! you are riding in a bucket of parts that make noise and shake and sqeak. I think once you've worked (well kind of work) at a dealer for 2 years people complaning about mundane little things pisses you off. Hell I don't like that my mp3 rattles but I would never even think of trading it in because of that, same with the bushings its an extreemly MINOR thing.
If anything I like the fact my car has problems it keeps things interesting, well thats the way I feel about it.

Adam, I'm not meaning this to be a personal attack at all. I am simply giving my opionion on your post and I'm sorry if I offended you. Your not a ******* idiot... you just dont have a good brain j/k :p :)

Well i was a little pissed off with Mazda when I made my first post. The dealership said they knew what was making the thunking noise, but it was on "intergallactic backorder and it would take a year to get parts" that is a direct quote. After reading the forums I hear it is the bushings and the dealership says they have those and will fix it as soon s I bring it in. My MP3 player was stolen and the sub, but Mazda replaced the player with an upgraded version and gave me the same sub so that dealership isnt all bad, it is that they bsed me with this intergallactic backorder bs.
