My mazda is giving me a fit.!!!

So i was driving home tonite with my gf and my 2yr old daughter and i lost all abilty to shift into any gear as i was down shifting from 5th. It was if the linkage was gummed up and didnt want to go into gear at all. I had to pull over and make it go into gear and after a fews minutes it freed up and everything was okay. Now.. . . after that , i uncovered a new problem, only in 3rd gear i hear a flapping noise when accelerating, only in 3rd though, so sounds internal and gear or synchro related.

I had the same shifting issue less than a month ago, i took it to the dealer and the didnt find any metal shavings, they changed the fluid and adjusted the linkaged. They explained the loss of my shifting ability due to maybe some cracker crumbs down in the shifter? wtf? I know theres a bulletin for 3rd and 4th gear synchros but idk if this is it or not. They said they could they could find anything wrong. go figure. . . .

Im just wondering if anyone has had any shifting issues similar to mine aor any shifitng issues at all, i wont be able to take my car back to the dealer till wednesday when im off. Im just wondering if anyone else has this issue.

I ended up taking my car to the dealer this morning. They have to wait till tomorrow to get oin touch with Mazda to open up the trans to see whats up with it. I was gonna wait till wednesday but when i went to work this morning but 3rd gear gotr louder and i didint want to cause any more issues. Hopefull tomorrows tear down resuts in good news.

Aight. . . so i talked to the dealer today and it seems as if they are not gonna tear apart my trans. It turns out this is already the second trans. in this car. The warranty center wants the service tech to drive the car and duplicate the issue im having. . . . figures. . .so im in the rental for a third day as of tomorrow, but the dearler is paying for it so i cant complain. I just wish theyd fix my car. If i get a call and they say nothings wrong i dunno what ill do cuz the metal to metal noise i was hearing was very distinct as if two gears wear clacking together. wtf. . . . .oh well . . well see what happens tomorrow.

Tlaked to the Dealer, its been over 24 hrs and the trans has just now begun to be torn open. 12pm yesterday they told me the tech heard the grindding and metal clacking noises i was hearing, over 24 hrs later, and the trans is just now bein torn into. I hope tomorrow has good news. Im getting really irritated and nervous.

So i got the word after the tear down to day that my 3rd gear is F%$&ed!!!almost every tooth on the gear is broken. The dealer is talking to mazda to get the whole trans replaced. So ill be waitnign a whole week for my car to be fixed while a trans comes from california. Yippe for me!!!

man. at least they got to the bottom of the issue. and good news that you might get a full new trans! even if your stuck in rental car hell till then.

Yea but i want my car back. Rentals suck after awhile, at work i look out in the parking lot at a rental, not at my car, thats what im really working for is my car not a rental. Even though it is a 2012 ford focus that has so many bells and whistles i cant hardly drive the damn thing. lol. . j/k itll take a whole week till the new trans gets here from Cali. thats gonna suck. As long as it gets fixed though ill letm pay for a rental idc.

Aight. ..good news, my car is fixed. . .!!! yay. New trans is in and all buttoned up. . . Im picking my car up tomorrow morning on my way to work. Im so happy i can hardly contain myself.!!! It was supposed to be done two days ago, but Mazda called and wanted them to check shaft alignment monday so it wasnt done then. Now it is, and im super excited. . .!!!

So ive got my car back, and all ive got to say is wow! what a night and day difference. Ive noticed a power and torqued difference immediately, i think the old trans was worse off than i thought. but any ways, its shifting like clock work and getting me down the road with no issues.
