my LCD install

This is really cool. Being a computer guy, I'd love to this.

But I can see it now

What's wrong Newf?

My car crashed?

huh?

Yeah, blue screen of death.

LOL

What kind of hard drive are you using? I'd be worried about vibrations killing it if I were you.

no BSODs on Linux ;) :D

don't even get me started on Linux. I use both, but the "Linux doesn't crash" is bs.

Linux has it's fair share of problems as well. it's not the perfect os that some make it out to be.

I am using a regular 20 gig HD I had as a spare. The way I mounted the case in the car, its not actually screwed into the chassis of the car. Its using the carpet as padding and have padded L brackets on the sides to protect it from sliding around. The whole computer can be removed easily for servicing or anything like that and it doesnt pick up the small vibrations from the car because its not screwed directly into the car. I havent had any problems with it yet, I know it wont last forever but it should last a good long time. Hard drives arent expensive anyways.

All I need now is my PS2 in the mail and a remote for winamp.

A lot of people are meeting up for HIN, and I will be there hopefully. We would love to see more protege's in town. ;)

well, im just going to have to say i run Linux and Windows 2000, and both are VERY stable.

XP has been even more stable for me compred to 2000, but I prefer to run my servers off of 2000 or a unix shell. I have tried linux but I guess I need to get a book before I stick with it.

Ever tried Macs new operating system? OS 10.2 (a.k.a. Jaguar) I have it on my apple ibook. It NEVER crashes. I also have windows XP on my gateway, and yeah its better than 2000, but it still *ucks up every now and then. The only bad thing about Macs is gaming. Dont get a Mac if youre a big gamer.

there are exterior hard drives you can get that have some noise/vibration protection. Basically, their in an anti-shock case.

Having said that, I can't remember the name of any right now ???

But I have seen them.

regardless, damn cool idea, and fine install!

I went to the car meet with LinuxRacr and JDMsam tonight. Some girls were looking at my car because I had The Matrix on and they thought that was pretty cool by itself. I walked up to them showed them it was a computer and they nearly s*** their pants. Next thing you know the guys with RX-7's and other fast cars are checkin it out and asking me to "make one for their volvo" LMAO. Most of those girls cared less that I had one of the slowest cars there, but they thought the computer was badass. ;) ;)
