Get this crap... I go to a party last night... havin a great time... you know the story...

well, one of the people there was goin to leave and ther car wouldnt start. So, im the only one there w/ automotive knowledge, so i go down, jump the battery... nothin, turned out to be the starter. Tap the starter and the car starts....

Well, my buddy that I brought there, I ask him to shut my hood and the drunk asshole folded my hood in half over my hood-prop bar!!! It took so much friggin force to straighten it out so that I could get it closed that the entire drivers side of the hood is dented, bent, etc...

pics of the "fixed" hood are attatched... the is the best we could get it just so that it would close... and all the preassure it took for me to straighten it caused even more bending and dents...

anyways, I need a new hood badly and need to know what places have the best carbon hoods at the best price (as I figure that for the price of an OE hood and paint, i could have a nice CF hood)

sorry bout the crappy pics... best i can do this late at night on a dirty car

Damn man that's some fu*ked up s***........

I would look into, a DG motorsports hood to replace it with.

Also www.apexr1.com has a VIS oem carbon fiber hood for $400.

mspeed... have you seen the VIS hood in person? what is the quality of these? I know that Vis usually makes great hoods (rolled edges and all)... im just skeptical about why apexr1 is able to sell so cheaply

i saw the vis oem style on pat (pdhaudio's) car and it looked very nice. A very slight gap on the drivers side as compared to the passengers side, but nothing too bad. s*** the oem hood from mazda unpainted is 371 bucks. You might as well get the vis one.

Same thing happened to me about the hood, but mine got fizzucked in an accident, not my friend (thanks god cause i would beat his ass).

I got in oin the fiber images group buy. We should be receiving these hoods sometime this week so if you wait i will have good pics up soon of the fiber images quality.

ya man... if the FI hood is anything like their other hoods, it will be immaculate. with CF, you tend to get what you pay for (which is why I am questioning why apexr1 is able to sell so cheaply)

Nope, never seen a VIS hood on any protege man. i'm just throwing places out there that you can get them from for a decent price.

Hey toolebox when I get my evo hood I will sell you mine I have no where to store it. I am In the group buy. you would have to paint it but I am also about three hours south of you.

You think that's bad, check what I did to my car last night. **** YOU MAIL BOX. :(

Maybe if you want you can buy mine. I got full CF so mine cost $900.00. I really need a clutch bad. Also want to get a new turbo and I have a chance to get one in two weeks

u got PM

I personally would not look into the DGmotorsports hood. I have actually had the chance to see two cars with them in last two months and I think they are really cheap. One of them was fading and was poorly put together. The other one was just off center and not aligned at all...

I personally have never seen a bad VIS hood... actually, CF hoods are hit/miss no matter who manufactures them... I have seen excellent FI hoods, I have also seen FI hoods w/ defects.

If ya have an air bubble or 2, just wet-sand that area lightly to open it up, add more resin and re-coat it... People that complain that it sticks up a bit on one side dont realize that all ya gotta do is let it sit in the sun w/ something heavy on that side... carbon hoods are quasi-moldable... you can adjust mild to moderate fitment issues w/ a couple dictionaries and a sunny day :D

Spoolin, you got PM about the FI hoods, but unless you can get them at a comparable price to what I can get a VIS for... i'll most likely go w/ VIS

The problem with VIS is that the customer service is miserable. I was sent a carbon fiber hood in which the latch was reversed, so it wouldn't close. It took them 5 months to come back to get the hood, and the only reason they did was because I did a credit card chargeback. Beware.
