My Fun, But Tripped Out Weekend...

This weekend will definitely be one to remember...

Friday night, I go out to the local, weekly Import Meet. I end up cruising with some Honda folks, and we do some runs on the highway (pretty damn empty highway). After all the fun, I go home and something just tells me to stay put in my car. So I fall asleep. About an hour later something wakes me up, and I look over my shoulder and see a group of asian dudes around my car, up in the driveway!:wtf: I raise up to get a better look, and one of them yells, "Oh s***!" and they all dart for the little 2001 + Silver Civic Coupe, and speed away. As that was happening, I was trying to figure out what time it was. I could have started the car and chased them, but when trying to start the car, the starter kill is in effect, and it took me a sec to wake up. By that time, I was like forget it. I ended up relocating, and sleeping in the car until the Texas WRX Run to Fredricksburg.

The Subarus arrive, and we head out for some driving fun!:D We stuck to the main roads until we got out to the boonies. The roads were pretty good, and as we approached "Hill Country" around Fredricksburg, they got better. At times there were slow folk in the roads blocking us, but as soon as the leader in the pack saw daylight, everyone who could would be at 130 MPH with the quickness. I was the only non-subie "keeping up." (I LOVE BOOST!) It seemed like every 5 minutes or something, we all would hit tripple digit speeds. We got to Fredricksburg, and ate at the Fredricksburg Brewery. Pretty good food, althoug the waitstaff eagerly wanted to take our plates before we finished eating. :wtf: One guy threatend amputation of the hand the next time one of them tried to. We met up with the folks from San Antonio, Austin, and some from Houston and chilled outside for a while stiring up the locals.:D We caravaned out a certain well-know field and took a group photo (I'm dead center behind the WRX with the flag):

After that, I headed to San Antonio via 1376 to I-10. 1376 was a bad ass road! I went 90 the whole way passing all kinds of cars, and hittin turns like I was the Euro Rail!(wiggle) I met up with Will, and his wife (WShade) who in good hospitality put me up for the night at his house. Learned a lot about my car just from being in his presence. (No we did not race!) Thanks for everything!

After watching Super2ner, Car&Driver TV, and part of the Bucks/Eagles playoff game, I headed north to Austin where I met up with Diane and Gregg (Mazdaspeedgirl and Mr Repu). They were kind enough to show me best road I've ever been on thus far! Lime Creek Road!!! This is a 6 mile stretch of twisting, elevation-changing fun that had me all giddy ad Greg described. Diane lead the way through the 1st, while Greg rode with me, and I must say she can drive the hell out of the Miata...I mean MX-5 (Josie) with the top down. I had to boost, just to keep on her bumper. She knew that road well. Definitely has skillz! As much fun as we all had, and as much skill as Greg had also, something had to go terribly wrong.:( Greg and Diane switched places, and it was my turn to lead. As we were flying through there like bloody mad, I look up in my rear-view to see Greg slide off the road, and then the car flip over on him! As this is happening, I was like, 'OH s***!! Greg just flipped the Miata!" We turned around and went back, and he was crawling off from under the car, and stood up with only dirt on his shirt. The 1st thing out of his mouth was, "Now you know what the underside of a Miata looks like." We all laughed a little, and then called 911. The funny thing was the tow truck got there within 10 minutes, and before the cops. By then it was getting dark outside. The best part about all this was that Greg walked away unscathed....even though he did not have a ROLL BAR! Apparently he had a dream about this exact same scenario recently. The reason he survived was that he did exactly what he did in the dream. As the car was on its side, he gripped the stering wheel at the bottom, and pulled his head as low as he could. The seats acted as roll bars surprisingly, and held the weight of the car. After the cops took his statement, and we were cleared to go, we hop in my car and start the return trip home. On the way, I almost hit 2 deer! For some reason, Ludacris was playing a certain song in my head. I took them home, and headed north on I-35 for home.

Damn Linux tearing it up in the South. You must be beginning to like sleeping in your car j/k it has proved pretty useful for you lately. Glad to hear everyone is ok. Well except it doesn't sound like Josie made it? Did she?

And to think all I did this weekend was stay home with the flu and eat pizza LOL!

Glad your all okay. How bad is the car?

Just a note: 1 look at that picture makes me realize why I'm not driving a Suby.

Hmm....Now there's someone who is thinking what I am. The MX-5 (Josie) will probably be totaled. (sad2)

Isn't it though?! That's why I love to drive with people who are unfamiliar with the road. Everyone of the RX-7 guys from DFW say we have the best roads here in Austin..:D

:D:D:D Thanx sweetie! You know, as well as I was driving, I wasn't pushing it all the way. I was taking into consideration that you had not ever driven the road before. You know now that LCR has such hellacious hair-pins, but my top speed on the longer sweeping curves is just over 80mph--ohhh yah...

Let me tell you--I really believe someone was watching over him. He thinks so too. I am soooooo glad he was not hurt or worse taken from me yesterday.
Patrick, thank you so much for being there for us yesterday. I can't imagine what would have happened if u weren't--cause we don't have a cell phone and I prolly would have gotten seriously hurt if I had been in the car. :( Thank you again, u are a true friend now. :)

Apparently he had a dream about this exact same scenario recently. The reason he survived was that he did exactly what he did in the dream. As the car was on its side, he gripped the stering wheel at the bottom, and pulled his head as low as he could.

DUDE, this totally freaks me out too!! The thing that is weird is that he RARELY remembers his dreams, but he just happened to remember this one!!! freaky...
The seats acted as roll bars surprisingly, and held the weight of the car.

HOW CAN THAT HAPPEN?!?! I don't understand that a 2300 lb car can be held up by the seats! I thought maybe it was being supported somqwhat by the trunk, but when they flipped it over, there wasn't a SCRATCH on the trunk lid! :wft::wft:
After the cops took his statement, and we were cleared to go, we hop in my car and start the return trip home. On the way, I almost hit 2 deer!
At this point I said "Dude, we need to get off this damn road!"

I have the unofficial word from the insurance agent about Josie--she will be totalled because they do not fix cars that have been rolled. :(:(:(

Mazdagirl .... sorry for your loss (Josie) but I am glad things worked out the way they did. Meaning Greg is OK.

BTW LINUX love the pic that is of the rearview Mirror on the Highway and out of all of these subis you see your car hanging right with. Just a cool pic.

Hell yeah, Didn't even have to look at it too hard either. I mean I noticed your car right off. (2thumbs) You done good man. All thats missing are a couple asian kids draggin from your rear bumper (oops did I say that out loud)

Should read, "All that's missing are those kids that tried to steal/fuckup your ride dragging from the car."
