2000 Mazda Protoge
Hey guys so im new here and I was hoping you could help me out as my knowledge of cars isn't vast.
I have a 2000 Mazda protg se I believe (it's the 1.6l one Im pretty sure) and if I recall the mazda 3 is the later version of the protg (correct me if im wrong) so I posted this in here, if its better suited for a different thread, my apologies, please move it, I didn't know better..

anyways so I've been to this forum a few times. last time I was seeing what options there were for HO alternators for somebody else's post on a 02 protg. and everybody answered him by telling him no there isn't. and that alternatively they could put in a second alternator but looking at the belt I couldn't really see anywhere where you would be able to.. i'm not awfully mechanically inclined, but to my eyes all the spots were taken up.

anyways I also found a bunch of HO alternators for my and that other posters protg and I was wondering what lead everybody to believe there isn't any? are the ones ive found underrated to hell? won't fit, everybody in the post just sounded so certain that it was never going to happen. somebody mentioned it frying the ecu but I have no idea what that is..

explanations? :)
