My Exhaust broke! (factory pipe)

I was just cruising down the road and I stopped at a light. when the light turned green, I let up the clutch and gave it gas and I heard a really loud buzzing! I took off very slow also. I took it to the dealer and they told me the pipe had broken at the weld!
I have not heard of this happening to anybody else. :wtf:
they are fixing it now. I didn't hit anything on the road either, they told me there was no impact damage....

That same thing happened to 2 other people on here just as fall was getting over. Lots of heat in that exhaust.

I was under my car today and mine was looking pretty nasty at only 3k miles. All the salt on the roads has that thing rusting up.

Sorry to hear that. Today after about a 30 min drive I shut down my engine and I smelled a really bad burning smell coming from my pipe. I don't know much about cars (I'm learning) but it really scared me. I let the turbo cool too. Should I be worried or is it just some trash burning out of the exhaust?

Mine cracked also at a weld. Got gradually louder over time towards the front end. Not fun, and somewhat of a rediculous part to fall apart. They also replaced mine with a 2003.5 full exhaust so I have the oval style tip (not complaining but somewhat funny).

yep same thing happend to mine was it between the 2 cats? thats where mine broke.

I believe it was after the cats. I will ask and find out for sure.

mine broke as well. Still waiting to get it fixed.

My weld also broke the same day or the day before Heathen's. The dealership told me it was a weld in the downpipe that had cracked. When it was all over with I got a new downpipe and a cat. I still have everything else original as far as the rest of the exhaust system.

Yes, its a whole new car. Only has 600 miles on it. Does that have something to do with it?
