my discount tire experience

So I went to discount tire to get my wheels balanced as I was getting steering wheel shake over 60mph. Long story short they scratchef my wheels.. all 4. As most you know I just got my kosei k1s like a month ago. I was pretty upset. Good thing I checked befor I left. At first they wanted to repaint them for me and I toyed with the idea of getting them black but then I came to my senses and before I could ask them to replace them they offered to buy me new ones. So they did and should get here next week. Sucks cuz that means more of my time.

That's pretty good customer service!, i was really worried about that with my 6UL's when i got them mounted at a small local tire place, but they did a pretty good job. They seemed more intrigued that my wheels were so light considering how low of a price they are. It was also the first time they saw a set of Rivals, they were very interested in them.

Why not, they're yours.

They're replacing stuff they broke, they're not paying you for lost time and frustration, the scratched set should be fine.

For such a large company, I've actually been very pleased with discount tire. My first experience with them was a nail in the tire. They had just closed up the shop as I pulled up. After telling them my problem they opened the shop back up, patched and balanced the tire, and sent me on my way at no charge. I haven't been anywhere else since. (except mail order from discount tire direct or tire rack).

I went to a DT store once, they were quick and inexpensive in also repairing a nail puncture in my tire. I've ordered from DTD a few times, including about 2 weeks ago for my Buick. Quick, good pricing, and good customer service. However I can see a tech being brainblown or not being careful with something, they're probably used to working on crap old cars where the owners either don't care or don't notice the wheels. It was nice of them to replace the whole set, but they have no obligation to give you the old ones back. You are not paying anything for the replacements and as long as they are satisfactory to you in the end, they will be keeping the damaged wheels. Now if you had to pay for the wheels and they would mount and balance at no charge, then yes, you should be getting them back.
