actaully i got a new car alarm!

2way Car alarm, remote starter, turbo timer, its kick ass!

installed it myself in about 6 hours (during this 6hrs i also took breaks, slacked off, chatted on msn, ate pizza) its EASY to install a remote starter on a manuel, i wonder why install shops recommend against it, i tried to start with it in gear but the alarm doesnt let me. whats the big deal?

if your wondering, no i didnt use those stupid butt connectors, i soldered every connection there was, and then some (replaced some wires with lower ga ones)

so it's pretty easy to install this by yourself ? how would you say the difficulty would be for a novice in electronics ?

dont touch it... those are important wires to be cutting and sodering.

but i also knew nothing about cars before i started, if you can solder good and wrap electrical tape around a bunch of wires than its easy. i started out with car audio and now i can pretty much do anything electrical with the car. also i dont think i cut any wires, its all splicing. the only wire that i "COULD" have cut was for starter disable but i didnt install that cuz i ran out of relays

nice work, i did mine about a year ago, removeing the drivers seat made it really easy, i had to cut a wire or 2 though for the remote start, other than that i spliced everything,
been workin for 1 year no problems.. adn that is good, my dash basically has to be removed to get to the brain box of the alarm.. lol that b**** is hidden very well..

nice job dude. Now you can start your own car alarm business, hehehehe

s*** I wish I can install it too...but...I will probably mess my wires up.
anyway, nicely done

I do not know about you guys but if you ever had to sell your car or wanted to and you wanted the alarm or the alarm went bad or something, I would feel bad for you having to unsolder all of your connections. That is why most professionals (I am not talking Ultimate Electronics, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc... I am talking certified professional shops that all they do is alarms) use butt connectors and t-taps. I know me for one, I am not certified but I have done a lot of alarms and full systems, I use t-taps and I have done a remote start on a standard. 1998 Honda Civic EX/Vtec Standard 5-speed. Had to remove to sensors and tap a white and BAM, remote start. So... Just my $.02

LOL..Emm..you can't remote start in gear. I haven't heard of any remote starters that will let you...let alone cars. The car will just buck and stall out LOL

or smash into whatever is infront/behind (depending on gear)

this is a joke right?

i should rephrase that, the alarm has a safety to NOT allow you to start while in gear, yet most shops wont install a starter if your car is standard, so what im saying is the starter has fail safes built in, why would it be a problem to install it on a standard?

and you CAN start the car IN GEAR by bypassing the neutral wire and tach wire alot of ppl skip this step cuz they are lazy if they are doing the install themselves, something the shop/professional should not do.

also i recommend soldering because when my car stereo got stolen the solder joints where either there or they were missing when they ripped out the deck. which means the joints are stronger than the wires themselves. also solder doesn't rust.
