My COBB Spring Impressions

I have these springs as well. I love them! I am not about slamming my car, but the car is lower but it handles so much better and tracks better too! The high speed float is GONE and the car feels way more connected to the road.

The only problem is that it is so smooth at speed now that it is easy to find yourself going faster than you intended.
I passed someone at 55 on the way home last night and when I caught up to the cars ahead of us, glanced down and realized I had gotten up to almost 100 and had no idea. I wanted 65. Cannot go by feel anymore. Check that speedometer often when not in traffic!

new pics and the springs have really settled

Gosh that must be awful for you. I will get back on the horse and order this weekend. Thanks for the reassuring!

... What I am talking about is potholes and frostheaves. I feel rough stuff much more than I used to, at least on the initial impact. Yes, it settles right down now, but that first contact is definitely, shall we say, firmer.
How's the ride been with your new Falkens pumped up to 40+ psi, Mid_Life? I had mine at 40 last weekend and every frostheave I hit seemed like my strut towers were going to break off. I've got them at 37 now and it's a little better, but there's no way I want to increase spring stiffness on these Michigan roads, but the decreased wheel hop sounds nice, and less torque steer sounds really nice...

Bacarl, once the tires warm up you will gain about 3-4 lbs. The tires might want to be pressurized to 34l32 cold. That would be a little softer. Try dropping a couple pounds till the ride is acceptable or soft and gradually increase. I usually start with the car's door rating and move around from there regardless of the max pressure rating of tire.

Ordered Cobbsters from Mazda3performanceparts at a great price from Frank. Already have Hotchies waiting on sideline. I am quite enthusiastic, with Mazda replacing fuel pump and reflashing at the end of this month. Getting very close to getting project car back on schedule!

According to Falken's website, their reinforced tires (which the 615's are) call for 6 psi more than "normal" tires. They call for 41/39 cold for a set of 225/40 615's on an MS3.

BaCarl - It is a little harsher, but surprisingly less than I expected. My wife has the car for a road trip for a couple of days and she commented that she can feel "everything" now. She hasn't been in the car in months, as we take her Ram whenever we go anywhere together (we're both large and need the room) so part of that could be comparing the MS3 to the monster sized truck.

Having had the springs in for a little longer now, I can say that I still love them and am very glad I went through the trouble of installing them.
Oddly enough, and this might have to do with the profile of the new tires, the car doesn't look like there is much of a drop if any when I just look at the car standing alone. But the evidence tells me that it has to be significantly lower in front, because I used to be able to pull up to the sidewalk at work and overlap it with the nose of the car. That is out of the question now. I would hit, and it wouldn't be pretty.

you willing to help out a fellow mn'er if i were to get a set. i think i might get them insted of my intake for now! lmk! also r u on mnmazda?

Cobb Springs arrived today, I appreciate y'all sharing your exp. looking forward to driving, with bars and springs in place now that I have I tire I am confident in. Anybody set the rear bar to the stiffer setting?

There are guys who have done it. I personally have it on the lower setting because I think it is a better match for the factory front bar. I would do the heavier setting if I had a Cobb front bar.

I've got the rear bar set to "stiffer" with the OEM front. Seems to work fine. Not a whole hell of a lot of SOTP difference between "stiff" and "stiffer".
