Then reinstall the bumper cover and apply some touch up paint. You will still be able to tell it was damaged, but it won't look quite as bad. Plus you won't feel as bad if another rock hits it.

ABS (like PVC) is a thermoset plastic. Once it takes shape from the [injection] mold, it will not revert back.
