My tender heart is being broken by my baby Mazda 626 1989 5 speed stick shift!!!!

Here's the scoop:

Around this time last year, I was driving to work with it when all of a sudden the thing just dies on me. The hood was smoking and it was just a horrible scene. Well, a friend of mine said he'll fix it for me, when he had some free time. Well, unfortunately, he never really found time to fix it until now, ONE YEAR LATER, and all this time my baby's been sitting out there parked FOR OVER A YEAR. AS you can imagine, it has started growing some green crap on it's body and the inside is beginning to rot. As a matter of fact, there's mold growing on the seatbelts already and the smell is everywhere inside it. I was in tears of anger at the *&^%*@ mold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How can I fix this problem? Should I open up all the windows and let the sun do it's work on it? And burn the s*** outta there, or should i get it detailed? I'm willing to spend money on this thing, I"m not ready to give up on it yet!!! a couple of people have told me to donate it BUT ARE THEY SERIOUS??! they told me about some kind of illness one can get from breathing in moldy air or something which is definately a concern of mine, but help me out! is this true?!?!

Thanks in advance!!

Your fellow Mazda lover.

im no expert but my guess would be take out all the interior and clean each peice individually. and also to check to see if the mold got under the carpet and such. also im sure you can find checmicals that kill mold so i would spray a bunch of that down also.

Remove all interior bits, spray with lysol, let dry in the sun.
While it's drying clean anything suspicious from the interior. Then get
at that Green fungus. If the mold is black then yeah you could get sick from breathing it in.

thanks guys! I went into lowe's yesterday and got this mold/mildew remover. btw, what's the difference between them?

and i just followed the instructions and began spraying the s*** out of that mold!! i hope it goes away. i've left all the doors and windows open for it to air out since 7 am this morning!!! i'm gonna leave it like that for the whole day, i just wish we had some sunshine out here!!

thanks again guys. i'll give you all an update soon!

I'm having this problem with my wife's car. the trick is that you must remove everything, EVERYTHING from the interior, the mold is probably growing underneith things such as the door moldings, under the dash, on the steering wheel, inside the air vents, under the carpet, in the seats, etc etc. those are just a few of the places I found it in my searches.

good luck
