My 1st exterior modification

^ Looks clean.

My first mod was front window tints.

I not getting this debadge thing. Why?

Funny question. I thought the idea originated in Europe, for stealth effect on the autobahn.

(In the US the obsession is more with custom wheels, which puzzles some in Europe...)

It very well might be. It's an option for cars delivered in Europe to have the badges deleted from production.

Personally I don't like the look of the big cheesy chrome badges on the back of the CX-5. Nor do I like the license plate frame from the dealer making me look like a rolling billboard.

The only reason I think they get debadged here is for example if a car comes with a 1.6 litre badge and the car is also available in bigger engine varients such as 2.0 litre the 1.6 would get removed. To the onlooker it could appear to be a better model car than it really is. In my experience this was mainly seen on BMW's.

^ yes, or those with higher output/bigger engines prefer to operate in stealth mode.

I will be debadging soon but am waiting for a new rear logo.

First time Mazda owner and have been reading this forum for a bit now. Really enjoying my CX-5 so far and had to show off my recent mod: de-badged and plasti-dipped both Mazda emblems and the chrome trim around the grill.

It's a tad dark out but I'm pretty happy with it (the plasti-dip, not the pictures as they were snapped with an iPad.)

I was thinking about pdipping, does the material seem like it may come off in a car wash? eg is it "rubbery" or solid once it's set?

Nice job. Would like to do that but with all the traffic and road debris that gets thrown our way, I would have to re-dip every other week!

It has texture to it. Plasti dip is ment for tool handles for grip. So a wash cloth could potentially cling. I plastidipped the chrome around my Cooper's head lights and tail lights and redo them every other summer.

I also wash my car myself to avoid swirls from car washes.

We'll see how long this lasts, 120 miles in the rain and mostly at highway speeds and it's holding up so far. Will report back on durability after more travels.
