Date: 5/13/06
Time: Noon
Location: Mount St. Helens Visitor Center at Silver Lake

I-5 Northbound/Southbound

Take Exit #49/WA-504 East ~ Toutle/Castle Rock
Head East onto WA-504 East/Spirit Lake Hwy
Continue East for 5 miles on WA-504 and just after the 5 mile marker off to your right will be Mount St. Helens Visitor Center.

We will head out from Mount St. Helens Visitor Center (#1) at 1pm for a cruise up to Johnston Ridge Observatory (#12) where we can get within five miles away from the mountain's center (which is the closest you can get to the crater driving).

One stop will be made on the way up at Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center (#3) at mile marker 26. There we will have a show-shine for the rides, grab a bite to eat for lunch at the restaurant, you can watch a live glass blowing exhibit where they use the ash from the mountain to make their pieces, take a helicopter ride up to the crater that departs every hour (if you wish to do this please take time on your way down after we cruise up to the top due to time) and even ride a llama, if your are into that kind of thing!

There are a lot more Visitor Centers and Viewpoints on the way up but I suggest to check them out on your way down due to the lack of time and parking for everyone at each one. Mainly the viewpoints lack the parking and the other Visitor Centers are more like learning centers with exhibits. So again you may part from the group on the way down if you wish 2 check them out.

FYI - If you do wish to check out all the Visitor Centers, I suggest you buy a $5 pass that can get you into them all at the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center (our meet point) or its $3 admission at each one except our stop at Hoffstadt Bluffs Visitor Center for the show-n-shine/lunch, its free admission there.

If you wish to check out additional information on Spirit Lake Memorial Highway (WA-504) check out this link-

SP23. Its a Special Edition Sport Package that Mazda made exclusively for 2005 with limited production. They made 1500 hb's like mine and 3500 sedans for the US. Basically its a appearance package with a special exterior paint job (Carbon Grey Mica), saddle brown leather/heated seats, Bose 7 speak sound system (sub under pass seat and amp under driver), 6 disc in-dash cd changer, led taillights, and auto censored wipers. Check it out.........

seriously, you guys couldn't pick a different weekend for this trip? more i think about it, the more i think it'd be fun. unfortunately, shows come first when it comes down to car stuff. :(

not fair! >_<

Well hopefully we could find somewhere a little further north to do a similair drive, but give the canuks an easier drive.

I plan on it!! Lookin at the Cascade Loop 4 the next 1 and make it an all day event! The reason for this location was 2 accommodate the Portland ppl. St Helens was between Seattle n Portland. I plan on advertising the Cascade Loop Meet at St Helens 2 gather thoughts and interest.

We've been doing the North Cascades and back Stevens Pass on bikes in Aug. it's a fun ride! The Canadians come down with us and get all the Speeding tickets. One guy got one two years running now! (deadhorse

I have yet to post, but I do indeed plan on attending this. Being from the eastside I might actually just meet everyone up there at noon, but this is a nice easy pull for me. VERY good idea, how many other forums are involved? have you gottne ahold of anjyl somethingorother? she's got a 6, put together a pretty goodsize multifoum mazda meet at XXX last summer.

Asfar as those who can't be there. THere's ALWAYS a damn carshow whenever anything's planned, I'm prettysure they're just a regular happening so scheduling around them might be rediculous.

At anyrate, Paul, (Poseur) and quite likely my girlfriend Danielle (Engel) with her p5 as well. Should be at the visitor center by noon bare minimum.
