MT or AT

i currently own a AT P5....
AT or MT is better for our cars and why?
what do you guys think?
what do you guys have?

manual...manual...manual...

like any car an automatic transmission takes the fun out of driving the car. especially for our car...we need a manual transmission to keep it peppy...and you get better gas mileage

I think it really depends on your driving. If you live in a high traffic area the AT would be nice. that might be the only reason you get an auto now that i think about it. If your cheap.. MT, and if you like to "drive" your car than a MT. But it really depends on your skill/love of driving, and where you live. If your in traffic 90% of the time get an Auto, otherwise the MT is the only way to go.

Re:

Manual is much better in almost every respect. It's lighter, it allows for better controll of the car, better launches, better gas milage (5 gears) It's more fun.... what else....oh yeah, it's cheaper. lol Only thing that's great about automatics is...well, you dont' have to do jack. I only have an auto because at the time I got my car I didn't know how to drive a stick.

I have a AT for the same reason I have a red car instead of a yellow one, it wasn't my choice. I was saving up for a MP5 but I got into an accident with my old car (a 1992 toyota corolla). I wanted a MT Yellow MP5 and my mom wanted a black Toyota Matrix (not the 180hp cool one mind you). When I showed her how much more car we were getting she went with the MP5 but said "I am never buying a yellow car!". So I got the closes to yellow I could a nice red one. As for the AT no one else in my family can drive stick and it would be inpratical for them to only have one car.

2002VividYellow....."The Auto I test drove was a dog"
what is that mean???

yeah..the reason i got the AT is because it took me over 1 hour to go to school...and traffic jam all the time....my parents said i'll be tired to death if i do that everyday..remember...it tooks me 1 hour to go to school...and you also have to come back...that's like another hour....they don't want me to shift around 2 hours a day..that's pretty tire...and beside...my mom don't know how to drive a stick....anyways...i brought the AT already...and it's not bad...you can always shift down and O/D if you want to boost higher rpm right?

Manual is the key. When i got my 5 in August i got the only red fully loaded 5 that had a manual trans. 2 months later they got another manual but i wasnt loaded. Everyone that i've talked to in Fayetteville that owns one wishes they had a manual. I guess manual 5's are hard to come by. At least the reds are.:D

My two previous cars were both autos and I learned to drive on a stick. Now that I'm once again driving a manual I don't think that I'll ever go back. I just really enjoy being able to drop into 3rd and burn cars that want to play, especially in the turns. Now, once I install my short shifter tomorrow.... I get giddy at the thought :D

My test car had trouble getting up & going, seemed to shift gears too soon. I thought i could live with an auto so my wife could drive it..but I settled for the stick & she'll just have to learn have to drive it.

I have a AT, my mom didn't trust my MT skills since I basically taught myself this past summer. I live in a BIG city so traffic wise, its great. I like AT then, but i really do wish i had a MT. They are so much fun. I wish I learned earlier, but I couldn't get the hang of it.
