I don't know where this should be posted so feel free to move it. Anyways, so i was coming back from a family visit from mississippi last night and was getting bored on I-10. I have tried numerous times to get it to 155 but I can't get it to budge above 150. This was an 80-150mph pull in sixth gear, full thottle, with me and the wife in the car. On a fairly straight (closed course) highway. I thought it was intresting, you can really see where these things need some tuning and how the turbo dies out throughout the power curve.

look like it was even going to stop at 145. was it all in 6th gear though bc the car made two jumps. thought it looked like you were shifting.

i would say its drag limited it looks like there was more power to be had the car just couldn't manage it.

Wait for the Cobb accessport to come out and then we'll see if it is drag limited. I've only driven my speed3 to about 120 and it felt very stable. How did it feel at those speeds?

It's impressive to see any car do 150mph let alone a NON- "RX-7/RX-8/Uber turbo miata" Mazda!

As for getting on the other side of 150mph...Naturally more power would help but lowering the car and making detail changes/upgrades would help as well...like waxing your MS3 and adjusting tire pressures...Weather and Wind can wind can either add or take away that last few mph...

It would be interesting to see how fast you can go by making non-power related mods...at first...;)

at the end of the video, we can see the GAZ light turning on! :)
nice video, but i thought the MS3 would reach 155 faster than that, I did'nt tried yet...

If it's any consolation, you were probably only going 135-140mph :) Speedometers are inaccurate at that speed. I had a motorcycle with a published by the maker top speed of 186mph. I couldn't get it to break 177mph according to my GPS. Partly because I created some drag because I couldn't tuck all the way in, and partly because crosswinds, rolling resistance, slight grades in the roadway, and heat/humidity all have major affects on speeds that fast. That' still freakin moving!

Its suprisingly very stable, I had no trouble with the handling at all, you can really feel it plant itself at those speeds and still be quite manuverable for lane changing and what not. As for the speedo, I know what your talking about SwampAss and this one is actually dead on, I have checked it on numerous speed traps, so I would say it was dead on 150, I actually think your going about 1-2 mph faster than what the speedo says. Mentioning the gas light is hilarious because after that there wasn't an exit for miles and we almost ran out in the middle of the highway. But after trying this repeatedly I would say that with a 3inch turbo back exhaust it will definetly hit the limiter in the top end, I don't think its drag limited and you can feel the power there its just all being retricted, with a tune this car will easliy top 160. Also I have done a dead stop to top speed run with the car and it gets there alot quicker than in the video. I was having alot of fun with it on the highway before I took that vid. And to Kuro if you think thats bad, try holding on to a Hayabusa with one hand while doing almost 190 with a video camera in the other.(2thumbs)

I had a Hayabusa. They make tank mounts for cameras. I couldn't imagine trying to ride 9mph let alone 190 trying to hold a camera.

Maybe if you dropped to fifth, got some acceleration going then hit sixth at the right point, you might get the last few mph.

The most impressive thing is I don't hear your wife screaming at you to stop! You are a lucky man.

BLAHAHAHAHAH!!!! so true. also the engine is very quiet. i thought it would be whaling at you to stop doing that at that speed, and rpm.

Yea It does get up there alot quicker that way but it still kinda halts at 150 or so. Oh and yea the wife is cool not to much really scares her while in the car, maybe nothing at all, don't know never did.:)
