I just bought some RX-8 wheels for my MSP and was wondering if I could put my RacingHarts on my parents 95 Miata MX-5? I know that I would need an adaptor plate, but would I need a lower aspect ratio.

Has anyone done this before?

I don't recall ever hearing/seeing a Miata with a 5 lug conversion before...of course the wheels will fit with a 40 series tire. Prolly would look pretty cool.

Well I found an adaptor plate:

Wheel Adapter 4 Lug 100 To 5 Lug 4.5" Thickness 2" (Pair)

Is 2" to thick? (will it push the wheel out past the fender)

I think it would be horrible... You're going to trash the ball joints quickly. Don't do it... But in the end, its your car (or your parents) so do what you want...

Are you saying no to the adaptors or no to the 17's?

The wheels are fine, but any time you put the wheels farther out from the ball joint/wheel bearing it puts more stress on it and will make it fail faster.

I'd say no to the adaptors.... but I don't think 17" wheels and larger look right on a NA, but thats just my opinion...
