MSP vs SRT-4?

I'm debating buying either car. However no dodge dealers by me have the Srt-4 in stock. Are there any noticeable difference really between the two? Dodge is offering a 0% financing where mazda is only offering me $1500 cash back. Also since Mazda came out with the MP3 last year and now the MSP this year what are they coming out with next year? Parhaps I will pool my pennys and save for a down payment when the new version comes out with a financing package. Any info is greatly appreciated.

do a search, there are a ton of opinions. the srt4 is fast and doesnt handle as well as the msp, but the msp has some turbo upgrade options available. HiBoost had a turbo (p5) at 14psi with about 260whp and 300torque! :D

Well I think the opinions will be slightly skewed towards the MSP being you asked this question on a Mazda board...

...but here's my $.02. Get what suits you best. I am not ashamed to admit the MSP is a better all-around package than the SRT-4. I just got my SRT-4 for pure speed and the fun it creates. You just have to drive both cars and see what suits you better. I like both cars for what they are...cheap and fun to drive!

Mazdaspeed has better exterior and interior, better suspension, better handling.

SRT-4 is faster for drag racing, but the MSP would **** a SRT-4 on the slalom.

SRT-4 interior is like a basic neons interior.. and the exterior isn't very appealing in my opinion :(

Oh my...

Holy cats! That's an even, fair, comment I just can't be insulting!
Yes I know shocking isn't it.

this thread may very well turn into a "my cock is bigger" fight

how about this, If you are going to be doing alot of auto X-ing
get the MSP
if you are more a drag race kinda guy, get the SRT-4

I would say get what you like best, drive both cars, see which one you like more and go with it

both cars have a large supply of aftermarket parts

Do you know if there are any turbo kits avalible for the srt-4? I know I could always upgrade the suspension

there are upgrade kits in the works..I believe there is a Stage 1 upgrade right now, futher stages may or may not include re mapped ecu's and the like..the suspension can be upgraded im sure..but the car will NEVER handle like the MSP..so...its up to you..i would to the SRT-4 for myself..i like going fast..and beating up ricers...so make your decision wisely...

It can do so in a race or just by idling.

:D You guys can do that too???

For real though...there are more than a few aftermarket goodies out for the SRT-4 right now. The market is only just starting to roll out. It will be nuts around the end of spring/start of summer next year I can imagine. As for turbo upgrades, the only ones out are if you slap your own bigger turbo in there yourself. There's a guy running a T3/04 setup already and he's in the mid-12's with a few other mods. It's just sick. The Mopar Stage 1 is out right now and it is a remapped ECU with 4 bigger fuel injectors. People have been getting around a 10-20HP jump just with that. Not to mention boost controllers to cure that boost creep.

If you have any more questions, or just wanna snoop around and find out about the SRT (like I do on this board to find out about the MSP) try looking up http://www.srtforums.com. I'm sure that any information you need to know can be answered there. It's the best SRT forum out there. A lot of good guys.

Humiliating ricers is not a problem in an MSP. It can do so in a race or just by idling. The car is that damn cool!

Not just ricers, folks...even American losers who think they're cool. Some doof in a malibu w/ tinited windows tried to pull on me yesterday. I had my girlfriend in the car, short shifted 1st and 2nd, and slowed at third becuase there was traffic in front of me. I had him every second of the way...it was a joke. The dick just gave me the old "type-r" flyby in a MALIBU!?!. Sheesh.

Anywho...back on topic. I autocross and the MSP is awesome for it. Either car as a daily driver might be annoying, though. Both are high revvers; not honda-esque, but they're meant to be performance oriented, so they're a little rough around the edges. If I was solely considerig dragging people, then I'd be going SRT all the way...or I'd just get a WRX. I like it's looks a lot better and it can handle itself in both arenas. Now if Subaru would just drop the price point to something more on par with what it should be...

Go test drive both cars. All had to do was test drive the MSP and I was in love...didn't even need to drive anything else.

Damn I guess I'm just ate up. I had bought my car over the phone, did all the paperwork through AirEx, and waited two weeks for my car to ship from Florida before I even sat in it. To this day I have not been disappointed with it. ;)

Well i have had a MP3 turbo and a now i own a SRT-4 and i loved the MP3 for its handling but didnt like that i could only go to 8 psi.... Now w/ my dodge stock was 15 psi now w/ a lil trick 18 psi and i lowered it and it feels as good as MSP or better and the car doesnt come w/ strut bar or bigger sway bars the car stock does 69.9 on slalom now it should be doing 71. but like evry one esle said test drive both and see what u prefer! Also rember SRT-4 was the car that won SCC of the year! and was in the top eight best cars of the year (i believe 4th)

I'm Baaaack!

You know my opinion, the SRT4 won't be ***** in handling and could be easily made to handle as well as the MSP. That said, try them both out and see what you like driving around better. Buy the car you want and don't settle, that's what I just did for my new car.

If you like the looks of both, and are willing to wait till next year then don't buy anything now.

Next year's SRT-4 comes with a limited slip differential. With that it should have no trouble keeping up with the MSP on both the strip and track.

MSP is better.. cuz even SRT-4 owners post in our forums. wow no 1 ever said that i just have a thing for mazda i have had a lot of mazda vehicles.
