MSP vs MS3 (Couple questions)

I currently own an MSP and I was wondering how the clutch/shifting action compares to the MS3. I have heard in the MS3 and MS6 it is a little vague. Anyone who has driven an MSP, is it similar? I will be test driving soon but I thought I would check and see how the MSP compares to the MS3. Thanks.

thats a good question im getting a ms3 not knowing how the clutch/shifting is compared to my previous msp!!! but i must be better!!

I think the MSP is not too bad in that category. I have heard so much about how the MS3 & MS6 have pretty crappy clutches. My MSP has a pretty good clutch IMO.

well i sat in a ms3 at an auto convention, and even then i could tell that the shifter would take some getting used to. not much of a difference between each gear.

although i'm sure an actual owner could give you a better opinion.

the 06 ms6 was the one that has the crappy clutch but the 07 and the ms3 came with better clutches due to recall on the 06 ms6!!

I have an '06 MS6. The clutch's stiffness is non linear, meaning that the pedal will spring back at you with greater force the higher up it goes. It has a quick engagement too. I don't find it bad at all though, it just takes getting used to.

Ok, do you think this car is a great improvement on the MSP? I have the MSP now and am wondering if it's worth getting rid of my MSP and buying a MS3. Any feedback?

I've never driven one, but I can't see hot 300 lbs and a larger footprint would boost handling. I can attest to their absolutely retarded 3rd gear/rolling acceleration run next to a modded MSP. The MS3 pulls like nobody's business.

The ms3 rides very well, stable, flat and as said is very quick. IMO after testdriving the ms3 I'd say the shifter is a tad more direct/smoother than the msp. At times my shifter fells fairly notchy (damn bushings)
As far as whether or not to trade it......you just have to go test drive one for yourself.

all you need is the shifter bushing, the clutch is like butter, and the ms3 is far superior in every way to the MSP

The shifting and clutch on the MSP is better IMO. the MSP definately has a shorter throw. It does take some time getting used to the MS3 but once you do, you forget about the MSP completely. The MS3 is just a totally different car. I absolutely love it!

I own an MS3 and I had two MX6's which used the same shifter and linkage as your MSP. I would LOVE to have the old shifter feel from my MX6's in the MS3. The shifting action in the MS3 is not BAD by any means, but it's not going to be as good as what you have now.

The MS3 clutch requires a little more attention to be smooth with than the old ones did, but it's still fine.
