Bah! For that money the RX-8 is the only way to go. Nicer exterior and interior than the 350Z. Better handling. Back seat. Rotary Engine. 9000 rpm redline.

I like the RX-8, from what I have seen in the photos. An interesting look, for sure. I'm not sure I will ever have a rotary engine car, however. The look of the 350Z, to me, is totally badass. I have a friend with a Track Edition. It is nice.

But; considering the RX-8 is supposed to be under $30,000 for the top of the line - Mazda should have a winner. Some aren't going to like the looks, with those 4 doors, though. It is most unique, for sure! I will say more, once I get to actually see one, and drive one. Hey! It could be my next car. Although; I will not be getting rid of the 'Speed anytime soon.

EVO's and MSPs as mention are not even close to the same class, not made to compete with each other.
The EVO handles extremely well more than you will realize on a simple test drive. Take it to a track and learn to fully ultlizie the AWD system and power.
Again my friends stock EVO runs 13.2s easily!
Oh and the EVO is under rated in power, a stock dyno resulted in almost 285 whp!
The STI is slighty faster but only by .1-.2 seconds, and personally think the EVO handles better.
The STI still dives into corners where as the EVO just glides right through. Very little body roll and the suspension is quick to properly setup.

And the looks are all personal taste, the two cars were never made to be pretty looking. They are trying to hold true to the EVO/STI look of the past. Its that "ugly" look that some hate which makes me love it.

Just remember for every dollar you spend to be as fast, the EVO can spend to be even faster.
Thus is the age old comparison of production vs aftermarket performance. In short there is very little comparison....

Alot will need to be done to beat an EVO. My brother has one. We raced many times, him stock vs. me at 10psi and all mods, he spanked me by over 2 cars. Now that he has a RMR Catback Exhaust, RMR Straight Cat Pipe, RMR Downpipe, and RMR Intake. I have no chance. Just think of it this way stock vs. stock EVO wins, Stock vs. mildly modded MSP EVO wins, modded vs. modded EVO wins. It will take a lot and i mean a lot to de-throne the EVO or STI.

if we have the magnus exhaust, joe p manual boost controller, the frp kit, the injen/k&n cold air intake, and a front mount intercooler adn perhaps an apex'i air/fuel controller, i think that we could surprise a evo or two and perhaps a ferrari enzo

That may be true about the mods we do could let us beat evos. BUT when they mod their car it is back to square one. Don't get me wrong I love my msp, but it all comes down to potential and starting from a good base. We may be able to out mod a EVO/STI for cheaper but they can do half as many mods and come out alot quicker. Just speaking from experience.

i like how people are say what would happen IF* we had this and that or this and this along with one of these. thats like magazine racing for christ sakes=something done by loosers with too much time and imagination and not enough experiance on their hands.

alot of it revolves around the driver. all these magazine that say they had a best time of such and such with the car doesn't mean dick. when your a professional driver i'd fully expect that time from the magazine to be the one you get as well but till then Joe Shmo isn't going to get out there. launch perfectly,slam through the gears and pull off the record breaking time recorded by the professionals.

i've heard people all over different forums and even friends say they've haven't seen stock Evo's run better than 14.2's-14.4's and then some say they've seen them at the rack run a stock best of 13.2. big difference really.

Yes drivers do have alot to do with it, but it does relate to when talking about the performance of the car.
Seen drivers do 15.8s in C5 Vettes, however that does not mean the car is a 15.8. Seen them run 12.6s however that does not mean it is a 12.6.
However it does give you a sense of its range.

no comparison....they're not really in the same league....you're talking a $10k and 100hp difference between the 2. Regardless of what you do to the MSP engine, the tranny will be the weak point. That EVO tranny is said to take upwards of 500hp without blinking. And I have 2 car mags that have the EVO beating the STI in a comparo because the EVO has far superior handling and suspension.

For a $20k car, the MSP is for me....for a $30k car....it's the EVO.

for 30K id get a 350Z (performance model) or a RX-8 way before a shity mitsy

Boy, this s*** is getting very tired. Common, these two cars are not even in the same class, much less anything else. I would say a fair comparison for us would be a Mini CooperS, SVT Focus, Spec V, that kinda stuff is what you should really compare this car to.

A fair, better compro would be between the STi and the EVO8 or a Cosworth Focus (due out soon). That is better.

It's funny how people bash the EVO for it's looks, but reagardless of how we all think it looks. It has been welcomed with open arms to most tuners out there. And to all of those people saying they'd take a 350Z or an RX-8 over the EVO. Go right ahead, you'll still get your ass handed to you by a novice AWD driver even after you spend another $3000 in aftermarket parts. I don't care to comment on the R32 mainly because I don't know enough about the VW/Audi AWD system.
