Before I ask my questions I need to give a little background on my car. I bought a 2001 mp3 about 5 years ago that had a "complete" msp swap and being younger and ignorant to almost everything about turbos and timing ended up blowing a finger sized hole in a piston because come to find out it didn't have a msp ecu it had the mp3. Well it being 2013 I now have the time to fix it up I have a good used block that has been bored and honed .020 over, wiseco 9-1 pistons, k1 rods, arp head studs and a very thick cometic head gasket that is not being used. I WAS going to going for 400whp but I found that the protege transmission cant handle that as a daily driver. Now being older and not wanting to have another car that needs daily service or maintenance I want to put this bake together just to be a fun almost stock dd because the last car I had a 95 awd eagle talon was very fast and always needed something.
Now to my questions, I'm trying to find an affordable turbo to replace the stock gt25rs with that's not going to make to much boost for the ecu because im not going to be doing any standalone or piggyback.

I know someone on here is going to say just get a replacement chra but that over 700 just for the turbo and its only a big t25.
Oh one last question has anyone ever used a manifold adapter and a mitsibishi turbo because a evo3 16g would be an awesome turbo.
