I already own the MSP and ive had it about 6 months or so. but while i was looking i gave my number and info and stuff to the Mistu dealer and hyundai dealer

..Pretty much right after each other they called me up asking if i wanted to buy a Tiburon or Ecplise, and i was like i just bought a MSP so sorry. then they said what if i can take you out of your car and put you in ours ! blah blah blah and i was like i dont wanna loose 5k or so just to switch. then they asked me about my loan info and such and said i would only loose 1500 bucks due to rebates and such.

So here i am thinking about getting a new car....again. i do like my MSP alot even tho ive never been keen on having 4 doors..what do you think..would you do it?

sure, if you wanted to downgrade your car.

Hell no! Tiburons are just butt ugly! Eclipse's are okay, but not turbo'd anymore.

Nothing wrong with four doors. Makes it easy to bring friends along for the ride!

Nope! You'd really have to lose 1500$ and downgrade to a worse car. Neither of those cars can handle like an MSP can...and neither has the cheap power potential of the MSP. You must have bought the MSP for a reason over those other cars before. Just go back and think about why...you'll probably find that that reson is why you should keep it.

Both cars are way overweight, with suspensions for sport touring, not high performance. Both run inferior all-season tires on top of that. Translates to seriously reduced cornering ability.

The MSP will run circles around either performance-wise. They may be able to stick close in a straight line, nothing more.

Both also have plain-jane midsize sedan V6 engines shoehorned into them.

If you're determined to get rid of your MSP and have to have a 2 door in this price range, look at the Acura RSX-Type S or the Focus SVT. Both are far superior to the two you've mentioned. The SVT can be had cheap if you time the rebates right. I've got one and its one of the most fun cars I've ever owned.

Jesus Christ are you crazy! :)

And hyundai? And the eclipse is just ugly really and lets not forget mitsu's quality.

Not in a million years would I trade a Mazda (any of them ) for either of those two cars.

Blasphemy!

Begone with you bad idea's Evil Demon, Begone!

The only reason I would consider this is cause my poor MSP has some frame damage and it's at-the-limit handling has been effected. If I could trade it for a new Tib or Eclipse convertible with no previous damage it might be tempting.

If my car was not damaged I wouldn't even consider it. You'd have to mod the hell out of the engine and suspension of both the Tib or the Eclipse to get either to preform like the MSP. Spend that same amount on mods for your MSP and you'd probably be out of possible reach of either of the other two.

You can mod a tib as much as you want....it's still a hyundai.

Not in my driveway sir. I'd rather the srt4 first.

if i were going to trade my msp, it wouldn't be for those hunks of steel. see if the mitsu dealer can find you a 99 gsx or even gst in good condition, then it might be worth trading. the 3g eclipses suck, and a hyundai is a hyundai. if you really want to trade look for a used wrx or 99 eclipse gsx or gst, not those piles the dealers want you to buy

hyundai doesnt have a 10 year warranty for nothing. It is the only way they will sell a car. Even with a good warranty, you dont want to be using it every month. Trust me i researched the tiburon when i was looking at cars and i just dont get how a V6 can be so damn slow!!

Those Tibby v6 engines can only handle about 30 hp in upgrades and then you're blowing out the bottom end - it's a engineering flaw in their block design, the aluminum can't hold the crank in - they have 2 bolts on each side of the bearing case, each torqued to like 10-15 lb's, as opposed ot their 4cyl with one bolt on eeach end torqued to over 60 lb's. Becuase of this they are actually able to mod the 4-cyl much higher than the 6 (some are getting as high as 350-400 hp from the 4, the 6 can't go over 260 without disentegrating).

Moral of the story - I wouldn't touch them with a 10-foot titanium pole =)

I havn't done any research on the Eclipse because 1) it's a Mitsu 2) It's an Eclipse, and I've just never been interested in these cars =)

If the MSP has some damage, could you get a newer one? Or maybe hold out for the next generation? That's probably what I would do...

If you're looking for a convertible why not get a Miata? Do you absolutely need a backseat? I didn't for about 4 years. But now I'm married and have a house so, I wanted 4 doors for practicality.

This time of year is GREAT time to buy one. Regardless of rebates if you even 'hint' that you might buy one off the lot, you'll get 4,k off the sticker. If you play a little hardball, you can get 5,k off.

Then you'll have a car that can outhandle the MSP and have a huge aftermarket and an endless upgrade path.

I work for a dealership that owns 16 stores in and around portland oregon. This is the SLOOOWWWESSSSTTTT time of the year, its insane, barley any cars moving. If you move quick you should get a great deal, one week after xmas is the biggest week of the year tho, so after that your screwed.

As for the mitsu....ahhhh, no.......the tib?....again...wtf?

The only thing you should really be looking at if you wanna trade is a SRT-4, RSX-S, or WRX(little more)

The focus is a good car im sure i just dont like the looks.

Unless you wanna spend 5-10,000 more the msp is the best deal. Think of all the little stuff you will miss, stero, handling, kick, yellow/orange stiching, short shift, little accents like that you will miss.
