MSP Stumbling on WOT (or mostly WOT)

Now I don't know much about these cars as of yet but Athens is not far for me (especially in a few months when I move to the Winder/Statham area). In either case, maybe I can help you give it the once over. I'd like to get my hands dirty anyway possible. If nothing else, perhaps I can help you describe what you hear better. Maybe you can help me with some of my s*** too.

What color MSP you got? Where in Athens? Like south on the 10 loop or north loop?

Just so you know, you're not the only one. mine's been doing the same thing, but i never thought about the timing belt. maybe i ought to try that next.

you know where the Mazda dealership is in Athens? I work behind it ;) I live about 30 minutes EAST of Athens (like.. almost in South Carolina haha)

& I have an '03 Black Mica MSP - cant miss it, its loud and the only one i see running around Athens.

Vacuum, MAF, or plugs, most likely. Maybe a leaky intercooler pipe?

How many miles on the car? Any mods?

Agreed.

Check the plugs. Throw a new set in, gap them down to .028". How much boost are you running? With worn plugs, my car will misfire at WOT when boost comes on.

running stock boost (6.5-7?)
gonna get some more plugs (since thats an easy change)

hey if you want barry next time you come in town here i can swap MAF's with you and see if that is the problem before you got spending money on one

I think plugs would be the easiest and cheapest thing to try first.

I sent my Maff out of the country for repairs, so I'll try the plugs for now (who needs Maff when you have plugs)

But seriously, I haven't yet found the plug that could replace Maff.

Wow... I was half way through a sip of water when I read that. Any more and I would now be drying off my laptop HAHAHAHA
