MSP Stereo

Ok, before buying my MSP last week I had a 98 GT mustang that I traded in. In my mustang I had a Pioneer Premier DEH-750MP(follow the link) and obviously I pulled it out before trading in the car.

My question is how good and reliable is our Kenwood head unit? Should I put my pioneer in my MSP or leave the Kenwood. I was only thinking of leaving it for warranty reasons but what do you guys/girls think.

unless you want to get the sirius satellite radio stuff for free I would switch to the pioneer hu because the kenwood has problems of dying while in use and not closing, etc.

I'd keep the stock MSP radio around for a few months then decide. Any reliability issues shoud be known by then.

that's right....lol..he called me last night to see which one I decided on..but I can't decide. I like my Pioneer but the Kenwood isn't bad either, that is why I need opinions/feedback from others.

The one you have is probably nicer than the one that comes with the MSP.... However, the Kenwood sounds very good to me. It's extremely complicated to use. The bass and treble is part of a menu system which is very stupid to me. However, once setup it sounds good. Also, some of the buttons can be changed to display red instead of green so it matches the interior lights a little better. Isn't the Pioneer green only?

One other note is that the face flips and conceals the radio from would-be thieves. Some will spot that it's a flip face and steal it anyway but, I would think it deters more than it attracts.

The Kenwood is Sirius ready. Which I like better than XM. But, if you like XM better (or already have the tuner), the Pioneer makes more sense. Also, if you like your Pioneer and find it suits you, swap it out. You may have some custom wiring to do.

I don't need sirius I just play mp3 cd's, besides isn't XM less expensive per month?

I know you changed out your head unit Steph...what did you do with your Kenwood?

I let another member borrow it for awhile. I just recently got it back from him.. and I plan on putting it back on the car when I sell it. ITs a very nice HU. I just had this radio for awhile, brought it back from Japan. I love MiniDisk! But I plan on installing the Stock MSP radio back in my car sometime soon.

Your right, the kenwood does sound very good and my pioneer probably is better, I know my pioneer retails for $420 and the Kenwood I think was like $200 something. In the words of Car and Driver and just like you said the Kenwood is complicated to use and doesn't make sense all that much. I think your right about the color on the pioneer, I believe it's only green but I could be wrong. The XM/Sirius is not really a deciding factor since I only use the stereo or MP# cd's.

I have only had the MSP for a week and I like the sound of my stereo but I'm curious what difference the other one would make, if any.

That is one of the reasons why I haven't switched it out yet, I like the warranty... I would hate to void the warranty by putting in the Pioneer. Besides, lets say I put the pioneer in and one of the speakers go out, well they will not replace it because they will blame me for changing out the factory kenwood which voided the stereo warranty.

What and Where is sevenstock, what time to what time? Sunday, I'll most likely make it unless I'm at the hospital. A friend of mine was in a pretty bad accident Monday morning... , rolled his truck off the 405 freeway.
