My msp started smoking in start up about a month ago.
It only smokes if it has been sitting for awhile, so i thought it was my valve seals.

I recently replaced the valve seals along with timing belt, water outlet gasket, valve cover gasker, and cam seals and a pcv from a millenia.(nailbyt)

It started right up, but now a day later it is smoking again....

when i took the motor apart there was oil in cylinder 4 on the left valve, and traces of oil in the manifold and turbo....so i guess it was leaking pretty bad.

Any one know what the problem might be? Rings...maybe?

Seals on your turbo still good. Check to see if you have any oil in the intercooler piping.

Yes turbo is fine, and no oil in intercooler.
Like i said when i took the exhaust manifold off you could see that the oil was coming from cylinder four and from the left exhaust valve

Maybe the rings? or maybe the valve seats themselves? IDK! its embarrassing to be smoking that much at startup!

Do a dry, then a wet compression check. Let's see what #'s you get on cyl 4 compared to the rest of the cylinders. That's the only way I know to check for ring wear.

i have a leakdown tester i will try and test the motor in the next few days

And you used the correct valve seals? I know the intake and exhaust valves are different sizes and some companies sell all 16 seals the same size so one side will leak.

the seals i used were made by felpro and they where the same for both sides, i thought the reason they had different colors for each side was because the intake seals were not rated for as much heat or something? I will do a little more research and try to get a part number from the seals i used

That's sounds like the seals I just picked up for my msp. Their felpro and all 16 are the same. I paid 40 bucks for them. I hope their right when I go to put them in

They wanted 170 for the seals. That's crazy but if they are the correct ones I will buy them. I looked up the part number on the felpros and they say they fit the msp. What to do....
