MSP Short Throw Shift?

2003.5 MSP
For the past 2 months ive been thinking that my 3.5 msp had a shorter shift than a stock protege. Last night i ditched the beast shift knob for a small pistol grip. It doesnt fit as far down on the shift bar so it sits like a stock shift. The height doesnt bother me, what does is the fact that it feels like its bending. The bar is so thin and now there is so much leverage that it really feels like its bending when you shift.

Good news is that it no longer feels notchy, smooth all the way thru.

Would a real short throw help me out here? Where can i pick one up?

the TWM looks like it reduces throw more than the kartboy. Looks solid.

Anyone have any experence with eather?

yeah, i was wondering if anyone has put a short throw on the supposedly already short MSP shifter and found it worth-while

any thoughts?

I'd like to know your (communities) input on SS.. on what feels the best and what company actually has the shortest throw.

Thanks

anyone have TWM installed?

i've always wanted a kartboy untill i saw TWM.............BALLBEARING!!!!!
that should make the shifting much smoother and more persice.
price diference is not that much either.

I'll be putting a TWM in mine with Kartboy bushings.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the bushings for kartboy replace bushings at a different location. it's at the end of the shift link or something like that. i'm terrible with terminology so forgive me. whatever it is it reduces the wobble effect on the shifter itself because they are more firm, giving you better shift action.
but the twm bushings just replace the bushings inside the actual shifter linkage where you bolt it...so it doesn't reduce any play...i'm not sure what it does. smoothes it out?
the twm is like a cm in diameter vs the karboy's 4 or 5cm.

i have to twm shifter, I love the thing, if you want a damn short shift, the twm will get you to 40% of what it is now. Although I would recommend you get the kartboy bushings too

Why TWM w/ kartboys bushings? can someone explain, im thinking bout getting SS, and right now i'm leaning towards TWM, but wats up w/ ppl saying get KB's bushings and TWM SS?

Yes, the bushings that come with the TWM are different then kartboy. They replace busings in different locations. TWM doesn't make a urethane replacement bushing for the ones that the Kartboy bushings replace. The Kartboy bushings just reduce additional play in the shifter.

I think they are threaded different. I am under the impression that the stock MSP knob fits the TWM shortshifter, but that remains to be seen. I think I'll be getting a leather covered momo knob anyway though.
