MSp shifter is too short

Guys,

I have been driving the MSP for a while now, but I cannot get used to the short lever.
The shifter is too short for my taste and I was wondering if the B&M or TWR shifters were actually taller than stock.
It is really not confortable that short.

Ditto. I was really suprised when i installed mine. My B&M actually raised my shifter a little over an inch, but made the throws much shorter. I really perfer it this way. I drove a friends MSP with the Karboy kit on it, which lowers it even more, and it was rediculous. The height really isnt ideal for agressive driving because its actually too far away from the steering wheel IMO.

My issue wasn't that the throw was too short, but the physical height was too far from my "comfort zone" for shifting. The first mod I did was replacing the shifter and knob with the TWM shaft and a Razo 12oz shift knob. That combo decreased the throw from gear to gear quite a bit (although I had to remove the heat shield above the mid-pipe to make room for it under the car, but that didn't matter), and it feels WAY more comfortable that the stock one.

Just my 2 cents.

flip a coin... I doubt anyone has owned both and could make a good judgement call on that one. Whatever you can get cheaper.

haha...you can have my stock p5 shifter. With it you will feel like you are driving a boat! I love my B&M with kartboy bushing you should too =p

I just did finish installing a TWM shifter on my MSP. I like it a lot!! The throw is much reduced, but the height seems exactly the same, IMO. I didn't measure it, but it really doesn't feel any different height-wise. Also, the guy I talked to at TMW was very helpful. Their website claims the height is reduced, but it sure doesn't seem like it to me. Call 'em and talk to them - they will help you out.

i do too, but i wish the throws were shorter. I think if the TWM is about the same height, it might be in my future... but i wanna keep it as close to stock height as possible, because of my custom boot.

The height is *slightly* shorter if you re-use the stock shifter knob. I think the problem is more the knob and not so much the shifter itself. For me, I thought the MSP "short throw shifter" was a joke, so I just replaced both. My Razo actually sits physically higher on the top than the stock one.

On a side note, if you've ever used a heavily weighted shift knob on a short shifter, you may likely never want it any other way. It makes shifts much smoother and more fluid.

hmmm... i really like the stock knob, but your statement intrigues me... are there any knobs real similar to the stock 03 that are heavy, or any way to add weight to the stock knob??
