have any msp owners in ontario had their ecu flashed, frt/rear cushings replaced? did this get covered under warranty? did the dealership give you any problems?

I brought mine in cuase i heard the front squeaking, (b4 i became a member here) but by the time i got to the dealer the bushings were warm and did not make a noise, do they did nothing. Now i'm hearing the dreaded trunk clunk.

Should i go in and demand they change out the bushings, should i call Mazda Canada?

give me your input, thanks

I brought the car in for an oil change and they told me the bushings would be in soon and they would call me. I didnt even have to ask about the bushings. They called and I just got them installed. No clunk and all on warranty!!

I have had no luck with the ECU flash. If you call the costumer service ppl at Mazda Canada they will tell you "stay in contact with your dealership". Apperantly there is no ECU flash for Canada yet. I have no idea what to do. I may just go to the states and get it done there. Let me know how things turn out for you.

Cheers

many Ontario MSP's, including myself, have received the ECU flash from the dealer.

That is very interesting. I call the costumer help line today and they said that there was no ECU flash for Canada. I have also talked to the dealership about it and they know nothing. Is there anyone at Mazda that could inform the Dealership in Thunder Bay about the flash?

Jesus, Thunder Bay! I went to Lakehead.
Get all the info you can from the ECU sticky, then tell Mazda that there is a flash available and that you want it and why (stumbles when accellerating at around 3500 rpm's.)
They have to download the software. If not, call a Toronto dealer and get them to help you with the T-Bay dealer.

I'll print the info and see what happens. Which dealership did you get your flash done?

Did you like Lakehead? What did you take? I am thinking of finishing my Civil Eng. there.

Thanks

Lakehead was cool ,culture shock for sure coming from Montreal. I took Kinesiology, graduated in 1998.
I got my flash and bushings done at Gyro Mazda. (416) 421-5730

I can assure you there IS a flash for Canada - because I had it done.... Also the rear bushings are a TSB so they have to replace them. The fronts there's nothing you can do except wait for the weather to get warmer and hope that there is a fix for next winter.

CanSPD, where are you located? ...
Loaf, I bet you're the only MSP in Thunder Bay! woohooo!
MS MSP, I'm stalking you online... (Cheers)

New MSP owner in Ottawa (1 of 4?)

Hey all. New to the group. Just leased a 2003.5 Yellow MSP in Dec. Bone stock for now. Planning a few mods here and there. Was on the phone with Mazda Canada today asking about production numbers, but was informed that there are no production numbers for Canadian MSPs. However, I notice that some of you have yours listed. Where did you get the information? As for the hesitation and clunk, got them both. Wondering what the hell was going on until I read the info on this site recently. I will ask about the bushings next week, but I am not sure about getting the ECU flashed (if they are even aware of it). I read the stuff about advanced timing when you run higher boost pressures and I was considering installing a boost controller. The info in the forums seems to suggest that if you plan to play with the boost then you shouldn't bother with the ECU flash. Anyone else in ON combined both yet or planning to up the boost after flashing? Now that the snow is melting here in Ottawa I can actually test the MSP out a bit...LOL!

My wife's 2000 Protege SE comes off lease in a few months and I was considering a lease on one of the other cars I test drove before getting the MSP (Lancer Ralliart, Spec V, SRT-4). But after seeing the new Mazda 3, I might just stick with it and mod it for a bit more excitement.

London Dealer - Probart Mazda

I have had the rear bushings replaced and flash without any problems. No complaints here regarding Probart Mazda in London.

Done the deed

OK, just had my ecu flashed and my bushings replaced two weeks ago. I know that not everyone has liked the flash, but for me it has been like night and day. It is like someone lit a fire under my MSP. Way more pull through the midrange with NO more 4000 rpm surge. Straight linear power. I have not had it on the dyno, but the seat-of-the-pants dyno suggests an increase of about 10 whp. Not only that, but the turbo scream (that started with the change to Mobil 1 synthetic oil) has toned down quite a bit. The rear bushings have also tightened things up quite a bit too. Now, the MSP handles like a go-kart without the sounds of the whole rear end shaking around when I go over a crack in the road. I love it!

As for my dealer (Bank St. Mazda, Ottawa) I just went in and said that I wanted the ecu flashed and the bushing changed and they did it...no questions asked, no grief. I also had the rear ground effects skirt reattached as it had started to droop on the left side where the adhesive was deteriorating (I just bought the car new in December!!!!!). So far their service has been awesome, but then that is my 2nd car with them too.
