MSP owner...time to post your pic!!!!

devil.
how about a few more 'MS' stickers?. Like on your keyboard, mouse and moniter? :p

during your 450 miles, what's the craziest thing you've done?

I don't have too much stickers left, craziest thing, I didn't do any accept I pass a guy on a uphill road about 60mph on a 35mph, and that road even got a police station!! That guy just driving a old maxima and try to go fast infront of me. I didn't do any crazy stuffs before then because I'm still learning manual and keep stall the car so many times.

i have never stalled the MSP yet...and i hope i never do so. it's soo embrassing id your in traffic and you have to re-start your engine..or even more embrassing is if a lot of people are checking out your car in any situation and you stall! :o

haha....Just go easy on the clutch, that's the simpliest way not to stall your car. Never let go out of the clutch fast. Just don't 'ride' the clutch.

When i meant crazy, like what's the highest RPM you've gone to and what's your top speed so far?

right now I won't stall the car anymore, but the steps between 1st gear switching to 2nd gear still not too smooth as I wanted to be.

Devil .... Excellent pics ..... great ride ...... congratulations ..... thanks lots for sharing ...... Thanks to Sonic, his buddy Owen, and Limited Ed. I hope you'll all be drooling (wow) over pics of my car soon. I think you got enough stickers on the car now. Will those stickers not melt on the engine??? What are they made of?

BMH .... First posts of an owned black mica .... well-done. Like the orange ... it looks way better than I thought it would (I still think the orange looks better, but we didn't have a choice so its sort of moot). Does the black still have the orange stitching? If that's the wife's car, what's your ride???

Limited .... You're right ...easy on the clutch .... but DON'T RIDE IT unless you like spending money on clutches. If you are starting off and think you are going to stall and the engine is struggling, jam in the clutch and try again. Don't just starting revving the s*** out of the engine ... even if you don't stall it won't be a smooth "take-off" and you'll have learned nothing. Timing first ... speed second. There is an elegance, an art, to driving a standard. Nothing gets my goat more:mad: then seeing a really hot sports car, and looking in the window and seeing an automatic. AAARGGGHH. If you like driving, you NEED a standard..... and its WAY better in winter ... way more control. Its great to burn off the line, but when its late at night and your going home with your girl in the passenger seat, its nice and smooth that's going to impress her, not beating the bus to the next light. And if you like the old "hand on her thigh" thing while you're driving, you better also learn the art of reaching across with your left to change gears.:D (boobs)

BMH, thanks for posting the pics... i printed them out and am taking them to my dealer(the one who said that there were no black msps in the united states until next summer) and asking him if i can get compensated for him making me settle for the orange(even though i am more than happy with the orange)
and btw... i 100% agree with dpmmsp, a true sports car needs to be stick, you can feel the car and, call me sappy, almost become a part of your car. it is an awesome feeling.

dpmmsp: I think u replied to the wrong person, I'm the one who put stickers on my car and stall the car many times...haha.. About those stickers, I don't know they'll melt or not, but they seem to be fine after few weeks of driving I had.

I just replied to everyone and ranted a little(rant) . I really don't like auto sports cars. Everybody reads these things anyhow so I figured you guys could sort it out. Good luck with the car Devil....... enjoy.

The orange stitching is still on the interior.

They had a black one in College Station, but I ended up getting it in Houston.

Soon to be driving a 90 300ZX.

i went to my dealer today, he was off... but the person ahead of me on the list got their car. OMG it was perfect. the orange looked nothing like i had imagined, it is absolutely beautiful. i actually got to touch the car, and to my delight the dealership had not put a dealer-name sticker nor pre driller holes in the the front for the license plate. i cant wait until mine gets here. but until then i guess i will just have to not wash my hands... (wink)

Since we are talking about driving a stick...

dpmmsp, or all you standard drivers out there: What does it mean when 'ride the clutch'?

Sorry if it may sound ignorant, but I am not familiar with that term, even though I've been driving a stick for more than 5 years now. Also, I found that the clutch on my MP3 dis-engages like only halfway down when I step on the pedal. Is it a good driving habit to shift gears with the clutch pedal only halfway down? Or should I be stepping it all the way to the floor? My old CRX was no performance car, so I adapted to drive very leisurely with my clutch going all the way down all the time. But since I try to drive and shift a little quicker with the MP3, pressing the clutch to the point just enough to release the locked gears allows me get quicker and more accurate timing. Regardless, I still shift very gently though, not forcing the stick at all. I just don't know if its a general rule to press/step the clutch pedal all the way down when you shift, since I find the clutch pedal on the MP3(maybe MSP as well) goes way down than it needs to, compare to some other cars, which can throw off my timing sometimes.

Hope you guys can shed some lights on this. Thanks! And cool pics by the way (thumb)

You can thanks Tekkie for these....damn nice pics. I hope he doesn't mind me posting them...but they are soooo nice. I had to compress them though.

OUTSTANDING PIX. MANY THANKS.

Oh, and "riding a clutch" implies (I believe) a slight depressing of clutch pedal while car is in gear. Almost like just resting your left foot on the clutch pedal so that it slightly engages/disengages the clutch. My understanding was to get your left foot off the clutch pedal right after shifting and literally putting your left foot on the "dead" pedal.

Looks like all you Mazdaspeed owners so far live in the country! hehe
Afraid someone will steal your car if it's downtown? :p

it's not that i'm worried about the car being stolen..
i would rather have someone steal it than to vandalize it. When you vandalize it to certain extent, it just won't be same after you fix it. If someone steals it, and hoping it will never be found, at least you can get back some $$ for a new car.

MAN, those are some nice pictures!
All taken at Shannonville Fabi's hair pin turn!! SweeeT.
L-tuned IS300 looks awesome as well....

(wow) WOW(wow)

Great Photos ...... My new wallpaper if you don't mind.

"Riding the clutch" ..... as JP says .... driving along with your foot resting on the clutch ..... take your foot away from the clutch whenever possible. My biggest nit-pick of the msp is it doesn't really have much of a dead peddle ... just a raised bit of mat. My ex-brother-in-law would sit at a light on a hill holding the car there with the clutch .... all the time! He replaced clutches every couple of years but never learnt.(silly)

Those photos are from World of Wheels, in the shootout they did between the L-tuned IS300 and the MSP, correct? If I recall, the MSP was a much better track car. How'd you get a hold of those pictures?? Does someone here work for the magazine? GET ME A JOB THERE! :D
