msp orange paint

Hey guys, Do you think that a bodyshop will be able to match the orange paint on the msp? I have the wings west body kit that I was going to put on my p5 but kept it to put on my msp so do you think that the bodyshop can match it?

don't worry body shops now days can match anything....that is if they're worth anything. They simply take a small sample of the paint and put it in a paint analyzer and out comes the formula. I had my Yellow P5 in for some work and they matched it beautifully. The shop I went to was Dupont certified which garuntees the paint for life (a nice litte bonus). Post some pics when you get the kit installed.

Most of the time it isn't just as easy as using the paint code. Plus the MSP being a 3 stage makes it twice as hard. Also remember that the body kit will be a slightly different color. It is a huge color difference for the "trained" eye. Look at our door handles, wing, bumpers, and side skirts. They are different because of the plastic or whatever material they are made from. They will always be different for the most part. Good luck.

All depends on where you live I guess. The guys around here that have seen the Orange MSP just shook their heads and said good luck matching that paint.

Will find out soon enough, as his MSP already has been hit. Only a few sratches, but if they don't wet sand it out, it's going to need paint.

Plastic is a b**** to match right.

the paint formula is available from Mazda, even if they don't have any touch up paint themselves...my dealership is getting the paint formula for me so that they can paint some of my new parts...I will post it if I can get a copy of it...

I'm learning the hard way about the paint code: The dealership is making my broken rear valence right, but the original 'drop it off Monday, get it Tuesday' has turned into ' ummm....I think we need to keep it until FRIDAY(?!?!?!?!) because we can't figure out the proper mix for the paint (?!?!?!?)'

I am coming to truly DESPISE MY DEALER!!!!!!!!!! They've been dicked up since day one, and it isn't getting any better..... :mad:

Paint code isn't a problem. It's like 25t if I remember right. It's located on the LF door jam like most/all Fords.

The difference in paint does not necessarily come from material type, this is pearl we are dealing with if the parts arent painted together at the same time, the pearl gets laid differently and therefore looks differently, making touch-up or repainting a nightmare and matching impossible.

I live in the middle of nowhere, but in my town of more cows than people and more state forest than private property, there is a small body shop which has APPARENTLY done work for Jesse James and west coast choppers. (considering we are in CT, I would think they must be pretty good since its not like jesse james couldnt find someone closer)

Im kinda hopin they will be able to match it for me....we shall see..

I see what you are saying about the pearl not being laid correctly. But material DOES matter. For my job I look at cars all day. If you want a better example look at any pearl Toyota Solara or Honda Prelude, especially white. The bumpers will always be off because of the material.

Put on the body kit and get a full custom paint job

I do custom painting Stou design website and I can tell you that a good body shop can match it. It's a 3 coats system with gold pearl in it and if it's applied by a moron, it can look real bad. But a good painter can do it right!

Just shop around for a good paint shop and do it!
