hey everyone a couple a day ago it started to make this whisling noise from liek the turbo side on the motor and i cant figure out what it is.. when you hit the throtle it goes away but once you let off it starts doing it again... i feel like its the wastegate but idk if anyone can help me with this problem

no its not the intake the noise is coming from the turbo but i didnt know if the stock wastegate could go or whatnot... im just tyring to figure out if anyones wastegate went and what did it sound like

I had a problem once from my engine bay with a whistling sound. It was my intake. I don't remember what i did to solve it. But it either got louder under load, or disappeared under load. Don't remember.

There have been more than a few WGA failures. What you described is one condition mentioned on a Factory Service Bulletin. So check it out and replace it if needed.

DESCRIPTION
Some customers may experience one or more of the following conditions:
• Whistle noise from the engine compartment at idle.
• Engine speed is limited by fuel cut condition under high boost conditions.
• Check engine light on with P0171 - FUEL TRIM SYSTEM TOO LEAN stored in memory.

The above mentioned conditions may be the result of a ruptured waste gate actuator diaphragm.

yeah these little **** up wastegates are that and nothing more. HOWEVER if your wastegate goes- its a ****** a good excuse to play with turbo upgrades. because bigger is indeed- always better- thats what im doing since my wastegate got stuck open.

Nah, bigger isn't always better.. if the WGA goes, just buy a replacement from ATP. Otherwise, what Robyn is saying is go external, which then you will have to do a LOT more than simply replacing one part. Take the vacuum hose that leads to the WGA, and see if you can blow in it. If you can, then your WGA is bad.. if you can't blow through it then more than likely it's okay.

you could upgrade to a 2560r that is bigger but still internally wastegated. just cause the turbo is bigger doesn't mean external wastegate....disco potatoes are internally wastegated, and so are some 3071's

so you think its the wastegate?.. the thing is sometimes it does it then sometime it doesnt which makes no sense and im so confused does that mean my wastegates going or something idk im just going to change it and see what it does my s**** sooo laggy when it whisles so must be the wastegate going

No we dont know if it is your wastegate... you need to blow in the vac line that goes to the wastegate and see if you can blow thru it like jen said, if you can then it is bad if not then it should be good.
