MSP jerking???

Mazdaspeed Protege
I have my boost set a 9 psi for a while and never had any problem until tonight I was driving with no problem and then a srt-4 and a sentra SER came and wanted to race and of course I wasnt going to give up an opportunity to munch on them and then when I started to hit 7,8,and 9 psi the car started to jerk and then the check engine light started to flash so I started to let off the gas and it kept on flashing til it stayed on and still on does anybody have any idea what is the problem and why would it do that??

Go to autozone and get the CEL read for free. It could be anything and its better to get the PXXXX code versus guessing or speculating. Cooler or cold weather will cause the cut when boosting.

Yup..if the light is on..Get the code read....
Than come back andlets discuss it.
Until then.....it'll be all speculation.

ok I just came back from autozone to get it checked the code was p0301 and I thought cold weather is better for the car

I hate misfire codes...now you need to start the process of elimination, fun!

Back off on the boost for now...check/replace your spark plugs. I'd put some ngk vpower zfr6f-11 gapped to 30-32. If your still having this issue then switch the coil packs around and see if the code changes to p0302-p0303. If it's that simple then that would mean your coil pack is toast. Go down the list below and goodluck.

p.s. I'd also check compression before changing parts. If your lower on cylinder 1 then unfortunately you may have caused internal damage. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and start testing.

DTC P0301, DTC P0302, DTC P0303, DTC P0304
Possible Cause: Spark plug malfunction, High-tension lead malfuncation, Fuel injector malfunction, Air suction in intake-air system, Inadequate engine compression due to engine internal malfunction, Related connector or terminal malfunction, Related wiring harness malfunction.

I just changed my spark plugs just last wednesday with the NGK vpower and I gapped them correctly and even put dye electric grease also I have the nology wires and I had no problems til last night. with the code they said misfire in cylinder 1. I can tell its misfireing everytime I go over 6 psi

well I found the problem it was the ignition pack that kept me misfiring I changed it out and all is good thank everyone
