I just wanna know what you guys think of 2004 Toyota Celica Sport, I think its 180HP NA not sure, my cousin just got one and it feels like he just got it to one up me on my MSP the bastard.

Anyways I saw it and sat in it, looks pretty nice on the inside and I think its got better 'racing seat' than the MSP, and a nice 'racing steering' wheel but I didn't get to drive it :P...can my msp take his celica down stock for stock? is the toyota suspension better than ours?

oh and stupid thing is he can't even drive manual yet!!! (hah)

Peace

Celicas are not very fast, u should be able to race him in your MSP without any mods and beat him. Iit does not handle anywhere near the MSP from what I know.

trust me if he thinks he one up'd ya he's wrong

Celica = overpriced imo

Celica I drove also seemed very sluggish or maybe it just had a real lax ride.. I dunno.

Your car is faster and you got:

Racing Suspension
Nice Aftermarket Exhaust
Nice Stock Radio
Good Stock Speakers
Decent Sub
Limited Edition Rims
Nardi Steering Wheel

and a car which only about 4000 were made. There are probably more than 4000 Celicas in just the city I live in.

I think you did allright.

celicas are really over priced the gt-s should be no more then 20-21

I totally agree... for a few grand more, you could get an Evo RS. I test drove a Celica GT-S recently and was not very impressed with it. I'm sure long-term durability is there (it's a toyota, after all)... But the MSP will totally own a GT-S in both a straight-line race and in the twisties...

By the way, not to threadjack... but has anyone here tested out a RSX Type-S? I just test drove one a couple weeks back and was totally surprised at how slow the thing was. Maybe I needed to keep it up past 6000 rpms more... but for a 200hp car, I was totally shocked with how much it seemed to lag.

Both the GT-S and the Type-S are faster than an MSP in a straight line stock-for-stock, but not by much. You have to know how to drive them, though. Like jersey said, they make all their power with high revs. The Celica feels like dog unless you are in the top 1800 rpms, and the Type-S gets mean at about 5800rpm when VTEC kicks in. I drive my buddy's RSX-S all the time and can tell you that it will beat my MSP stock-for-stock, and spank it after he got header/exhaust/intake. I'm affraid to see it when he gets Hondata at the end of the month... Time to get my DP/exhaust/intercooler!

Oh, and yes, the Celica is a chick car! I have NEVER (seriously, never) seen a guy drive one before (except my friend on the test drive).

Not quite.

RSX-S is only faster than the MSP in a straight line at high speeds (like 90mph and over). Other than that it is dead even.

MSP is faster than a GT-S in all areas. (GT-S runs mid-high 15's)

All assuming equal drivers of course.

My mother owns a '00 GTS and I went head to head with SuperSpud one day from a 20 and 30mph roll. He would BARELY start gaining a few inches by the end of 3rd and he's at 10psi with a K&N panel filter. The GTS's powerband really sucks, all the power is made up top when the valve timing changes over.

MSP>Celica in every way though. I hate driving the GTS...

you're safe

according to verious car mags, the celica does 0-60 in 8secs to 7.6 compaired to MSP 0-60 in 6.9 to 7.2. the quarter mile is yours. you would own him.

as far as handling, to quote sport compact car..."the MSP is probably faster up our favorite mountain road than a Type R (which is faster than type S or GTS)..."this car is the new benchmark for...front-drive performance...it has knocked the old Acura Integra Type R off the mountain."

however, the GTS's handling potential is HUGE (not to say that the MSP is not), sport compact car got one up to 1.0+ on the skidpad and a tuning company got one to 75+mph!!!(holy s***!) through the slalom...FYI sport compact cars record for production car slalom speed was recorded with a MSP at 72mph (that has been beaten by the EVO)

bottom line is, stock, your car is faster in every way, and cost less...$ for $, MSP wins!

when i had only intake i raced my boy in his celica I/E, and i beat him by a nose or less... then again i had one extra person than him, a real skinny chick but still extra weight. either way, sorry to say i LOVE his car, only when he drives though, driving the celica is a pain, the windows are TINY and so are the mirrosr, and the clutch petal is ENDLESS and unfamiliar. i love my car, i got exhaust now, in a couple days we'll rave again with even mods and see what happens

I've seen stock Type-S's run 14.9-15.0 in the quarter. I consider myself a decent driver and run fairly consistantly at the track. I drove my friend's stock RSX and my stock MSP back-to-back at the track a few times and his was hands down faster (consistantly 2 tenths faster).

As far as the Celica goes, I was basing on tests that show the Celica nad RSX-S within 0.1 sec. of each other in the quarter.

Agreed; driver skill dominates in the end, though!

One more thing: if I had to do it again, I'd still get the Speed. All around better car IMO.
