MSP Handling vs. Evo Handling

Hey guys. I was just wondering, who here has driven both cars and what did people think about Evo handling vs. MSP handling? I'm test driving an evo next weekend, so I'll see for myself, but I'm definitely interested to see what input you guys have. Also, I'm wondering about stock evo handling vs. coilover/modified msp handling. Any input is helpful, thanks.

Wish I could tell you but the sales guys here are peckerheads and wouldn't let me even test drive an Evo. Oh well, spent my money elsewhere. I'd be interested to find out as well.

MSP handles great, but an Evo will will outhandle one. I've pushed the limits of an Evo on several occations and my MSP on a regular basis. Of course I haven't had the stock Potenzas on for about 18k miles, and these new tires suck in comparison. I think that the biggest advantage is the AWD and being able to get on the gas harder coming out of a turn without the understeer. Of course you can spin the Evo if you don't repect the turbo's powerband.

I have driven both cars. The EVO was very nice but way to harsh for normal every day driving. All road imperfections are felt though the car. It slams expansion joints on the highway. Don't read that I don't like the EVO or think it doesn't handle.....the MSP seems to have the stiffness, quick cornering without a real hard ride.

EVO handles niiiiice...but it feels more aggressive and harsh than the MSP. It is way easier to get a little skip, hop, and shred in the turns.

Good info, anyone else have any comments on msp vs. evo handling? One thing I really like is low speed corning with awd. I've driven a few wrx's, and I like being able to get on the gas earlier because you don't have to worry about the tires spinning. Next weekend I'll post up my impressions of evo vs. msp. Keep the info coming.

I went with a friend to go pick his new EVO up from the dealer. I was amazed at how smooth the power delivery was in the car. I whomped on it a lot that day. All of the driving was done on smooth Florida roads. Neither car will ride well on any harsh surface, in my opinion. Engineered vs tuner modified. Thats the difference to me. Both are great cars that handle well.

Both cars just feel different in the twisties... The MSP feels quick and light on it's toes while the EVO feels rock solid and more sure-footed, I think. I love my MSP's handling, but overall, I still think the EVO has better response.... plus the EVO's 2.1 turns (lock-to-lock) helps it be more responsive compared to the MSPs 2.7 turns. Just my 2 cents...

Of course the EVO will handle better, but I'd rather spend $19k out the door on my msp than $30k on an EVO. For that much more, it'd better outhandle my msp. I haven't driven an EVO yet, but I'd like to someday, except it might make me want to trade in my msp, and at this point, the only thing I'd trade it in for is an Infinity G35 coupe.

I think I should chime in, being that I own both cars. (rockon). Honestly dont try and compare the two because there different worlds, the EVO is in a class of its own and holds its own/ sets the pole really high. The MSP is more like an Integra type R.

I wouldnt drive the EVO unless your thinking of buying it because when you get back into the msp you will still have alot to desire and feel let down. Im not trying to be bias to the EVO (remember I own both). I guess short and sweet, the EVO will eat the msp alive in the turns.

Please no one take this the wrong way, I dont mean to diss on the msp (I would take it over my old Type R, if that means anything)

u still have the MSP? and the evo MR and a MSM ??

I drove a brand new 2004 EVO. I no longer wanted to buy one afterwards. I'll take my MSP over an EVO any day. Very similar g's on the skid pad, so I do not think its a case of one out handling the other. For the additional cost, the EVO should have better performance numbers, stock vs stock.

Did you have a standard evo then switch to the MR? How's the difference? I'll be getting an evo in the future, so I won't mind getting back in the protege and hating it hehe. You see the kid who wrecked the MR with 90 miles on the odo on evom?
