MSP down... this is what happens when people don't look

sucks bro, still if they say its totaled out, see if you canbuy it back cheap from them and or, just get a repair shop to pull/re-build the front frame to get her back on the road. The MSP's are few and far between and a dieing race... hope to see her back on the road.

well guys, its update time:

I will have to change my name to phoenixMSP or something because they're bringing her back to life, $6800 in damages, I need a complete front end, the only thing that doesn't need to be changed is the drivers side fender

I'm going to have to find the part numbers of the front end of the MSP because I want to make sure they don't put on a p5 or regular pro front end on her

also Focus I think you make the MSP 03.5 lip right? I'll probably need to get one from you cause there is no way I'll find one from mazda

Yes for the front lip. For a front end, Recyclage P.A. has a complete spicy front end.

nice...thats how much my damage was($6,000)...glad to see they are fixing it.

I went to go see her at the impound lot today, and the FMIC seems to have survived but the mounting bar...not so much looking on the inside the mani and hot pipe seem to be in good condition but everything front of that is scrap metal and plastic

Which shop is fixing it ?

to be honest I haven't selected a shop but know that the insurance is confirmed fixing it they are starting to get ansy and want the car moved out of impound.

I found a place on montreal racing but its a little far from me (terrebonne) if you have any suggestions I'm open to recommendations

I'd see which shops your insurance company works with first. The reason why I say this is because I selected a local shop around the corner from me and the paint didn't match 100% and looked like crap in a parking garage at night. In direct sunlight it matched(repainted twice). To make a long story short the insurance company wouldn't help me because I picked the shop out and it wasn't one of their "normal" shops they work with.

I'm not sure we have this problem in Canada as all shops I've seen thusfar has a guarantee associated with the job, most being a lifetime one...granted the shop can potentially put up a fight and the insurance company won't help.

Thanks though it's still a good point to note

This shop was guaranteed but in the end they stated that I was being to picky about the paint that it will never match 100% but only 99% of the time. They couldn't see what I could see simply due to the fact they are only opened during day light hours and none of them wanted nor cared to take the time to see what I was talking about. I took pictures and showed them to my insurance company and the shop. The shop stated it was photoshop and that theirs no way it could look like that beings that it look like it matched perfectly during the day in the sunlight. In the end i ended up giving up and trading the car in about a year later.

Edit: So that is why I say look into who yoru insurance company would use first. They really didn't care to help me it seems due to the simple fact I picked my own shop which wasnt one of their normal shops they work with.

great to see this yellow is NOT dead. way too nice a car to die at the hands of a pos.
but what is this "buy it back" business? afaik, your not obligated to use your insurance to cover damages, just declare the accident with them so there is a record ect.
Why would you have to buy anything from them?
why cant you just drag your hulk home and fix it yourself?

probably a dumb question. ive been lucky and have never had to deal with my insurance before. probably never will as the mods will easily outweigh the value of the car.

thanks for this info, to be honest I checked the work that came from a few shops they recommended and I was personally displeased with the results, thus why I'm looking elsewhere but maybe I should take a closer look

Update:

I went to the body shop requested by focus, steph seems to be an honest guy. I've also asked what it will cost to fix any rust and repaint the entire car in 1 shot as opposed to just the front of the car.

also I've talked to them about potentially swapping the replacement hood and grille with a RC CF Hood and a DG Fiberglass grille, but the details still need to be worked out
