MS6 rarity and other random talk

I have only seen the ones I test drove while looking for mine since I started looking at the MS6 for my new car. I might have seen others in the past, but I didn't notice them...that whole stealth thing.

saw my first other MS6 in the Owings Mills area .. it was titanium and completely stock down to the horse whip hanging off the roof.

Saw a white speed 6 today on the road. Aside from a couple student owned speed 6's that I see quite a bit thats the only one I have seen on the road in like 3 months. No lie. And aside from car meets I have never seen a modded speed 6 on the road :(. Or a new 2010 speed 3 for that matter !

I saw a silver speed 6...just like mine, as I was pulling out of Sheetz. (he was pulling in) we just kinda looked at each other in disbelief as we rolled by past...then he threw a thumbs up, and I did the same...it was actually quite cool.

That reminds me of my last car, MINI cooper...like bikers, MINI owners wave at each other....its a cult thing. if you ever see 2 MINIs in one place, watch, and you'll see them communicate lol.

As for Roof racks...Mazda wants you to put a roofrack on. They give you AWD so you can get up the mountain in snow, block your folding seat so that you have to display your board outside, and have predrilled holes on your roof for a rack...just because they really want you to buy a Thule!

LOL! Spend the $55 in parts and drop those seats!

I don't know if it follows throughout the country, but the Mazdaspeed crowd is a lot like the Harley crowd, throwing thumbs ups and waving to each other. At least I try to when I see one.

That thread has too many broken links, so I can't figure out how to drop the seats, lol. I looked when I was installing my Sirius, but just didnt see it.

I will certainly wave at any Speed I come across. My only problem is it takes me a bit to distinguish if its a speed or not, by that time, theyre gone lol

Let me know what more info you need, I did it and it's not hard at all. Just order the items that are posted and once you start tearing into it, you'll see how it all goes together.

After looking over that how-to, it does need some work.

I hate all of you for making me want to trade up.

Trust me, the move from Protege to MS6 is well worth it.

differential mount... plus I have a sick tendency for breaking driveline items. my mom's subie is losing its input shaft bearing, I've destroyed 2 CV shafts.. just knowing my luck I'd be seriously pushing my luck in an MS6.

the turbo issues and AWD reliability are dampening... luckily the budged doesn't allow it at this point anyway...

The diff. mount is a very rare occurance. It's not like it's the be all end all thing if it does break anyways, just buy a better one for $2-300 and be done with it. The turbos aren't a huge deal either, seems like once you get the rev. C one you're alright.

having to make sure it gets a turbo under warranty and driving around with a 2-300 repair possible sounds way too similar to the MSP to spend the extra cash to me... lol

You guys had way more common issues...RSB clunk, crappy Kenwood stereos, etc.

It's one of those risks you take with any sort of performance vehicle.

Yeah....in a way, I'm kinda glad actually that I got an ES instead of the MSP. They sold the one I was supposed to buy an hour before I got there. Maybe it was a sign...

Whoa whoa whoa, you act like this is the MS6 forum or somethin... besides, the MSP has many Pros to outweigh the Cons. For instance, we got the internal antenna, high performance plastic intercooler pipes, and two count 'em TWO types of wings (which most owners don't appreciate).

LOL, I love the look, but it was the true guinea pig for the Mazdaspeed development over here. It was a port modified car instead of something designed with a perf. variant from the ground up. It did have some cool things, no doubt, but also had a lot of shortcomings.

Trust me, the MS6 is no angel either, so we're all in the same boat together.
