Ms6 Mpg

So I was thinking about getting a MS6 to replace my Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver and I was curious as to what kind of MPG people were getting. Ideally I would like to get some feedback from people who are able to set their cruise control on the freeway for extended periods of time rather than lead foots tearing up the city streets :)

TIA.

Until you get a response from highway travellers allow me to offer my response. In mixed city-highway driving (70/30 split) I get about 400 km to a tank. I have never run the tank dry, of course, but I start to get scared that the light has been on way to long around 400 km (~250 miles). I do have a bit of a heavy foot so I am sure that on the highway with a relatively conservative driving technique your mileage would be considerably better.

So far, I've run about 4 tanks of gas through mine so far, and here are my numbers for 30% city/70% highway, where highway means 70-85mph, and city means city-speed-limit driving:

Tank#) ODO;TRIP/GAL=MPG

1) 305;294/14.7=19.9
2) 543;238/12.1=19.7
3) 778;236/13.0=18.2 <--- I did several 0-60 and other WOT runs during this tank.
4) 1077;299/14.7=20.2

This weekend I'll be driving to LA and back (about 700 mi), so I'll have some more long-distance (95% highway/cruise-control) data for you by next Monday.

Nice breakdown X. I have similar data on my Treo from the app Fuel Calc. I'll post it as well when I get the chance.

Just got results from 2 more tanks of gas:
25mpg for ~300 miles @ avg. 75mph, cruise control.
23mpg for ~320 miles with 40 miles city, 280 @ avg. 75 mph.

The first figure is pretty much spot-on for the EPA estimates.

Even though I drove ~80 miles/day with 75 of them being highway, I can only average about 20mpg during a tank of gas. I believe that has a lot to do with cold-starts and engine warm-up (twice each day). A lot more fuel is consumed during those initial few minutes before the engine is fully warmed up. (This was also true for my Acura TSX.)

Geeesh, in the winter I only get about 400kms in my car, all in town. That's a 55 liter tank. What size tank is in the 6?

15.9 gal (60 liters)

When do you fill up? I have driven over 40 miles with the low fuel lamp glowing, and still filled up only about 14.7 gal.

Yeah that darn light comes on way too early on my car too. I wait till it's just one tick from E most times but Supreme gas here is cheaper on thursdays so there's a lot of times I will just fill up cause it's thursday. My last tank was 420km, 170 of which were highway, and I filled up and put in 49liters.

Lots of snow here, car spends most time spinning wheels. I want AWD :(

I have been averaging ~23 mpg for about 80% highway driving at 80 mph.
