Ms6 Handling???!!!

Uh hey guys. I dont have a Ms6, but i might be the market for one.
I was just wondering how the handling is on this beast. Understeer? Oversteer? Responsive? I know mazdas have overall nice handling, but the 6 is a big car. Can it be compared to the Msp or Ms3?
Does everyone like the handling on their cars?
Thanks for everyones help

the thing about AWD is that you don't really feel BAD under or over steer. AWD is notorious for being as dead on steering response as you can get (compared to FWD and RWD). as for other aspects; body roll, pitch, drift, etc. like you said, it is a big car.

It is a big car, and it is a HEAVY car. It does not have the "tossibility" of a lighter car, say, Speed3 or Speed Protege.

I had a 93 Protege DX and a 94 Honda Civic EX riced out before this. This car is by far, no where need the "tossibility" of those cars. This car may have better skidpad numbers, but in terms of driving fun, those older cars kinda beat it because of their weight. But, I love my MS6 and as an "all around" car, it is near perfect

yea thats what i was thinking

I drive a P5 and i can say its peppy but its not the best handling car ever
Im kinda stuck between buying a msp, ms3, or ms6.
What do u guys think?

Well, you are getting a biased answer by asking in this forum, but I have to tell you ... I was torn between the same exact 3 cars. The MS3 and the MS6 when I bought were about the same price (MS3 was more expensive due to dealer markup), but I seriously considered buying a used MSP just to save money.

What turned me off of the MSP was that it was an older car, and I didnt want to buy one that was beat on or modded since I wanted my new car to last me about 10 years.

Basically, I love my MS6 and my best friend loves his MS3 and you couldnt get either one of us to change our minds. Good luck

I like going fast but I didn't want to be pushing an engine to its limits, so the MSP was never an option for me.

Between the 3 and 6, the 3 may feel more 'tossable', but I love the 4wd of the 6. No front or rear drive car can put as much power to the ground in a turn without much stickier tires. On top of that, any time it rains or snows the 6 has a huge advantage.

If 'tossability' is all you want, look at a Mazdaspeed Miata or Flyin' Miata.
You can invest $5000 in a flyin miata FMII kit for a regular miata and have an ultra lightweight 250whp car.

I've driven all 3 (MSP, MS3 and MS6). For a stock car, when I had my MSP, I would say that was the most tossable handler since it was light although underpowered. Then when I upgraded the suspension, it sure was more fun drive. Now that I have an MS3, I wish it was lighter but it still handles good for the power and torque it has. And when I drove a person I knows MS6, the car was decently quick but when I took it through some turns, you sure can feel the weight. Acceleration wise, I thought my ex-girlfriends Mazda6 V6 accelerated just as good even though spec and time wise it's not the same.

autocrossed her last season... my impression is more of understeer when pushed very hard...
considering the awd.. the grip is there but feels very heavy... ive been able to whip the rear end out with the traction conrol off and lifting...

So I am thinking about a new set up of springs and shocks/struts. Any suggestions. It will be for daily use with spirited driving...wanna eliminate the wheel gap too...

wow thread jack much? lol

and as for the ms3 or ms6 ive owned both. the 3 pulls harder from a roll just because of the weight difference. from a dig you cant beat the awd. ms6 imo is a nicer driving car

lol well good luck with your purchase bud. just go take em all for a test drive and make the best choice based on what u want!

I say the car handles great. Im dropped and the car still has some body roll. The car is pretty predictable. I used to have a fwd dodge stealth. The stealth handled pretty good but would quickly understeer and I ended up in a ditch one time :( DSC with the awd almost makes it impossible to understeer or oversteer.

I got an ms3 and I recommend you get a speed6, with a few bolt ons I have traction issues plus wheel hop aint no fun. The speed3 does what it was designed to do well, be a nice DD to get around town in a hurry, but sorry its no race monster. No idea about the 6 never driven it, but I would think that problem is fixed with AWD. Good luck.

i've driven both, the 6 handles wonders over the 3, but its heavier and has the extra axle to spin, so you sacrifice rolling quickness for endless traction, and the ability to oversteer. also the weather advantage. the 3's gearbox and clutch is a LOT easier to use and handle everyday though, you have to be a surgeon with your shifts on the 6. but driving in the mountains is incredible with the 6, there are no curves it cant handle fast.
