MS6+Fujita=Lower Boost?

Running completely stock the car would hit 16psi and fall down to 14-15 and hold before falling down to 11psi at ~6k

Well the other day i decided to re-install the fujita CAI.

I reset the ecu as normal but only saw 15psi with boost falling very rapidly to 10-11psi.

Shortly after I installed my DSM bov and boost hit 15psi as normal but would hold 11-12 psi to ~6K.

Recently I threw on the ETS TMIC and i am seeing the same boost levels.
It spikes to 15psi and holds 11-12psi till 6Krpms.

So i figured I had a boost leak at my CAI as that's when i showed the loss in boost.

Today..I got under the car and re-adjusted the Filter 1-1.5" lower (In the Fender Wheel Well).

Than I adjusted the hose between cai & engine. The clamp i had on popped off so the hose wasn't connected to the cai.

Still seeing same boost issue. spikes to 15psi and holds 11-12psi till 6k rpms.

Could my prosport Boost gauge be off?

I re-installed the cai couple hours ago. I tightened clamps and such...Re-aligned it better.

I also reset the ecu. After letting it idle and driving till warm still spiking to 15-16 and quickly settling to 11-12psi.
I punched it in 1st gear at a roll and only saw 11psi
but i did have the dsc on.

Not sure if the ecu is holding it back since i only put on 8 miles after reset.

I am considering purchasing a boost controller to get 18psi and have it holding around 15-16psi.

Anyone think i should throw the stock intake back on?

Thats highly odd. I am completely stock except k&n drop in and ngk 1step cold plugs. I'm pushing 17-18 then only dropping off to 14-15. I know jaxjeff has a fujita, ngk's and a cat back and he see's similar boost levels as u. why no filter on the boost gauge? are you using the cheap tubing they sent with the guage?

Filter makes the boost gauge read lower. I spoke to prosport and they stated it should be fine. A couple of people are running this boost gague w/ out the filter.

I replaced the tubing about 2-3 weeks ago with some stuff from R&S strauss. This stuff is allot better than the cheap stuff they included with kit.

I am now thinking maybe the T i used between bov & the boost gauge maybe cracked and causing these low readings..i am going to try and find a replacement this week.

possible, however i would think a crack in the t fitting would cause some drivability issues. i'm running my gauge with the filter, wonder what it would read without it. have you checked all of your charge tubes? 2 of my clamps were loose from the factory. could be a bad sending unit. jaxjeff's malfunctioned from the get go. keep us updated i'm very curious.

Well i was reading in another thread about the plastic pipe at the turbo inlet coming loose. So I decided to get back there and take a close inspection but it looks good. I have done a couple tests with this CAI and I am at a loss.

My little bro is suggesting i get some carb cleaner and start spraying it and see if the car starts to stall....that would be an indicator of un-metered air/leak.

I am considering pulling off the CAI and throwing the stocker back on and see where my boost goes to.

UNLESS I CAN GET SOMEONE WITH A DASH HAWK TO SEE IF MY BOOST GAUGE IS F*KED UP.

I am getting tired of jacking up the car just to install/remove my intake.

I may just have to invest into Cobb SRI for ease of installation.

No drivability issues..no fuel cut or studdering..

It should ready about 1-2psi higher with the filter removed.

I have checked my pipes 3 Times..and re-installed the CAI for good measure.

My clamps are solid with no cracking/splits in the silicone couplings.

Bad sending unit?

Also, I did some runs from a stop and all i am getting is 11psi in 1st three gears.

Mine actually holds around 13-14 after it spikes at 16-17 3rd gear and after.... I thought lower boost in 1st and second is normal right ? I hit about 10 in 1st and 12-13 in 2nd. I also have a mecanical boost guage now.... with filter.

Um from what i understand..with DSC off..we should not be boost limited as the mazdaspeed3's are.

When i first purchased the car and pre CAI..launching off the line i would I would see spikes to 15-16 and would slowly drop to 14ish and hold.

Ahhh havent checked that.... I ussually keep my DSC on.

I just installed an AEM CAI and it seems that the car has less power and more turbo lag....Anybody have any ideas?....It's getting really annoying....

did you reset your ecu?ie disconnect you batt for a lil bit, hit the brake pedal to drain last lil bit.

yea, or you can touch the 2 leads together to cancel out an other electricity in resistors and capacitors and such.

Ever since i installed my fujita CAI i went from trapping 96/97 in the quarter to 92/93 so i guess i get to take it off and throw it away.
