MS3's running VTA

for people that find it necessary to run VTA...this is a MUST to cap off your recirculation tube. For people that don't know what you need, I found this on su. I had never knew they carried these, but I found it today lookin at their site. This should help everyone who wants to run vta. You HAVE to do this for the car to run right.

He is correct, that was my issue when i ran vta, i didnt plug the recirc hose and the car ran terrible. Right now I am using a D battery which works fine as well. But either way the car will not run perfectly it still will have some issues. Last night a local member tested the dashhawk on my car and it says the car is too rich at idle amd at low rpm. I do have jerky shifts and lower mpg it seems also, probably from running too rich.

It may help the car run better, but this would be a must even if it didn't...otherwise you have an open airway for unfiltered air, dirt, snow, bugs, whatever to get into your engine.

yeah i tried it. ran it in VTA, plugged up the intake tube and hated it. hated the smell, the car felt really slow(lots of lag) but the BOV sounded really good. didnt have much time to fine tune the bov being that i couldnt stand the way the car was running. so i plugged everything back up

the car turned off the first few times but it seem to learn and begin to idle without turning off.

does the car consistently stay feeling slow or yall feel the ECU begins to learn, does the smell stay or does it go away?

All this talk of VTA reminds me of when I ran mine, it got so many looks... If only Cobb had a map for VTA BOV's (boom06) .. I would run it again but I don't know how it would react with the cobb maps

VTA is pointless

VTA with a stock turbo is pointless, read the post about having an aftermarket bypass/bov and it will show you that they are not needed. The stock one works fine but if your like me and am in love with the sound get the HKS SSQV. It just as loud in recirq. and sounds the best IMO.

not when you up the boost and it starts to leak

Ive been running my hks ssqv vta for about 5 months, ive had no problems at all just a few backfires here and there...i plugged up my recirq. tube with a cap off a wd40 bottle doesnt leak at all i sprayed carb cleaner on it while it was running to make sure it wasnt leaking!

yeah i capped mine off with the same cap haha. but my car felt like s***. was my recirc tube not plugged up tight enough? or does the ecu have to take time and learn

I want to bump this thread back into the light, I like the topic :) I put my greddy type-s back to recirc a few weeks ago, car runs smoother and gets much better mpg now that I switched.

I did get a cell for about 3-4 days and then it went away even while still in VTA mode. Not sure why it came on, stayed on, then went off when I hadnt changed anything. The DH said it was too rich in the left bank.

The left bank is the only bank in this car, yo!

I know yo! I thought it was weird that I ran VTA and the cell came on then went off after a while. Maybe the car reset itself or something. I didnt change anything. It still should have been running rich, but the light went off after 3-4 days of running vta

Anyone here have a CEL with the HKS vta? I've seen a CEL come and go (even when cleared with a DH) for quite a while. Says rich off of idle

thats what mine was doing with the type-s, turning off and on.

I didnt think you were still on this site dude? Thought you bailed!

running a low profile right now ;) ssshhhhhhhhhh

I'm going to get my bone stock MS3 turbo fixed hopefully, and keep it as a fun reliable dd. This weekend I am picking up a project car. $500 for a second gen mazda MX-6. Has about $2500 worth of new parts in the trunk (clutch, brakes, struts, axle) that will keep me busy. Also found a japanese engine for it for $650 that will get it running low 14 seconds. Piece together a turbo kit on top of that. It will be fun man, and no risk of warranty bs either.

I'm gonna stop before the mods kick me out for being off topic :D I'll post up when I get the car!!!

i know, i checked your latest posts to see if you are still around, and then noticed your post on 1/26 about that mx-6. I also posted in the xbox 360 thread.

Anyone have a Turbosmart duel port (set to VTA and recirculating) with any issues, also what setting?
