MS3 Short Shifter

I was wondering if anyone has installed the short shifter for the MS3. I went to the dealer today and found that he could order it for 170.00 dollars. I want to know if it is worth it to order the short shifter and how much of a difference it makes? If anyone has purchased one is this price good? They also sold me the CAI for 283.00.
Thanks for the Info

from what i know, that short shifter the parts guy found is not for the Mazdaspeed3. it is a mazdaspeed shifter for the mazda3. a short throw shifter is not being offered from mazda, for the mazdaspeed3.

I better call tomarrow and make sure that they ordered the right CAI. I think they ordered the mazdaspeed for the 3 not the mazdaspeed3 CAI.

yeah, i would definately double check that. not all parts people are up to date on the mazdaspeed3 accessories. i know the part numbers are on the forums somewhere.

no short throw but pretty shift knob

its acutally not big at all..it fits my tiny hands thats why i got it..way smaller than the stock one

Nice Sparco MS3Chik.

I need something about half again as big as the stock one. I was thinkin of goin with the A6 Leopard or Bombshell from TWM, but damn they're pricey.

thanks!
i got the sparco one for 44 bucks...its red so i like it..! yea no way i spend over that for one..but there are some nice ones out there..the screw ones come loose all the time tho..thats no fun..maybe its because i grip it too hard..lol

i turned my shifter knob to the left a bit so the numbers face the front left of the car...fits my hand better and i can shift nicer...just seems to cup the palm a bit more.....i have tooken my knob off and held the shifter at the base and it is alot faster shifting....maybe just cutting the threads for screwing a knob. cutting about 3/4 of the threads and getting a small knob would proly work realy good..try holding the base of the shifter without the knob..the shifts are soo short

TWM Performance will be releasing our MazdaSpeed 3 short shifter in about 6 weeks. Initially we planned to release it in April but ran in to a few delays while sourcing parts such as bushings, springs, etc. The design is complete and the prototype just needs to be installed, then we'll be ready for production.

Actually, I would encourage anyone who is interested in a short shifter for their MazdaSpeed 3 to e-mail us at sales@twmperformance.com so we can gauge the size of our initial production run. We have already had a great deal of interest, but we wnat to be sure we can meet the demand with our first production. Keep in mind this will not be for another 6 weeks or so, but let us know and we'll add your contact info to our list to be notified when it is ready.

Thanks!

it is slightly shorter than the regular 3. but most state that the throw is too long and inacurate. which i can agree to.

yea i hate that...do u ever get grind noise when u miss 3rd? i miss 3rd when i do it realy fast...when i get it tho 3rd spins the tires and u go so much faster

lol...Of course your going to grind if you miss and you are pushing the stick into place. But the problem is the stick is not where its supposed to be going... This issue has been mentioned before and I have been advised that to try and clear the gears every so often. Which I have been doing and thus far as fairly worked. Almost once a day I clear the gears with the engine on of course atleast 2 to 3 times. All gears except for reverse.
