I was looking into what if would take to install a Power moonroof in my MS3 today in the Pittsburgh area. I received quotes from around $1100 to $1500 for a power moonroof one touch operation and shade. Requires redoing the headliner so everything matches. Anyone out there consider getting there's done? (drive2) It would be nice to have this option when the nice weather hits plus would definately be different.

I think there is a stabilizer bar in the moonroof area, thats why mazda didn't put one in. You may want to contact mazda and find out before someone puts a big hole in your roof. If you do it post pics, 1500 seems pricy though, I hope they give you a swede headliner

Thanks for the insight. Will check into it and report back as soon as I get an answer on if there is a support or not that may be in the way.(drive)

As nice it may be to have a sunroof on this car I would suggest you dont do it. Its not an option for a reason. I do not remember the exact reason why but im sure someone here will chime in.

MS3 moonroof Install

I contacted my local guru's Classic Soft Trim who are experts and participated at the SEMA show with there own booth and presented them with the question of installing a moonroof in my MS3. They of course never did one in a speed 3 and first thing out of his mouth was let me get back to you and I'll contact the Mazda Rep they deal with and present him with the questions about structure being in the way. So I guess we'll find out hopefully by tomorrow if it can be done. Would be a nice option on those summer days cruising with the top back. Other mods being done shortly is my CPE intake (red) and shark fin once I receive them. (drive2)

No sunroof because of structural reasons. Same reason why MS6 has no fold down rear seat - extra brace in there because of extra speed!

Now why on earth will you do that?? The chassis and frame are reinforced and this INCLUDES the roof. Aside from any safety concerns, I am sure you know what'll happen to the value of your car right?

My 2 cents,
Carlos

It'll go WAY up...I mean, come on - it'll be 'one-of-a-kind'!

Yes, I'm kidding.
