MS3 horn sucks

For those interested in an easy, cheap ($10) way to get a respectably loud two tone horn, just buy a Fiamm Low Tone horn kit at your local discount auto parts store and attach it to your current horn. It'll sound just like the 6 horn, but fits much better into the tight space behind the bumper.

If removing the bumper is easy for you, do that. But you don't have to. Instead just raise the driver's side of the car up (be safe: put it on a jack stand, chock the rear wheels, put on the e-brake and all that), and remove the wheel and the floppy plastic pieces at the front of the wheel well and between the wheel well and the front bumper. Next make an extender wire with one bare wire and one female spade connector as shown here:

Next remove the stock horn wire's female spade connector, insert the bare end of the extender wire into it, and reattach to the stock horn. Make sure the extender is firmly attached and assemble the extra horn with it's jumper wire and bracket. Then remove the nut that holds the stock horn on (it's a Fiamm High Tone), and attach the new horn/bracket assembly to the stock horn's bolt. You may want to keep the everything just finger tight so you can adjust angle of the bracket and/or rotate the new horn as needed to get an inch or so of space all around it. Once you have the new horn in a good place, tighten everything down and attach the extender wire's female spade connector to the new horn. Give the horn a honk to test it before reinstalling the floppy plastic parts. Then say a final goodbye to your wimpy, small car tooter and hello to your new attention-grabbing, two-tone horn!

Is it necessarily to remove the wheel? can you just do it ffrom the top?

"quiet desperado", are you using the Fiamm Freeway Blasters Low Tone horn, or the regular Fiamm Low tone horn?

You can't reach the horns from the top because there's just too much crap in the way. You don't have to remove the wheel either, it just makes it a little less cramped. I just turned the wheels to the far left and that gave plenty of space. You still have to unscrew the plastic baffles though.

"Regular Low Tone that comes stock on the 6. Plenty loud enough for me when added to stock MS3 High Tone." P.S. It's hard enough to reach from the bottom. I'd say just about impossible from the top.

im gona go to a junkyard a find some 1980's cadillac brougham horns...

Those are nice to get. There is one on each fender between the wheel well and the parking light. You should be able to see them. Older Buicks have the same style as well.

Wow...I didn't realize there were such horn crazy people here. :) I don't know why some think I am nutz for putting air horns on my miata. I think it's a necessity for small cars. It keeps those soccer moms in their burbans from running me over for sure! ;)
