MS3 hit a protruding manhole

Dude your ms3 is sweet........ just needs tint.. Ok sorry continue with the thread

Touche Salesman (family guy joke) the tints were done the 18th. I probably will not do any photo shoots with the car until the hit and run s*** gets fixed. Then by then the wideband and standback will be in too so expect new pics mid next year!!!

To the guy that hit a pot hole in a parking lot and did 1600 damage. I'm sure you weren't drunk driving to be going that fast in a parking lot. Both side control arms??? That's not a pot hole its a ditch!

To the guy calling us tards for having mazda fix our cars. Its for free instead of months of no use waiting for the government to reimburse for damages. I am lucky to own multiple cars but most aren't going to get a rental at 25 a day hoping for a reimbursement eventually.

I'd be on the phone with your local Deptartment of Transportation... and added a few vulgar explicatives to the post if that happened to me.

Don't be a dumbass, don't take it to Mazda yet, and don't drive the car for now, you need to file a complaint with the DOT NOW.

Go take pictures of your car and the man hole, NOW.

They will pay to fix your vehicle and any residual loss of value, due to it being a "repaired" new vehicle.

Don't listen to any of these idiots telling you to take it to Mazda. WTF are you people thinking? Tards.

Thanks for the insight Jack! BTW, how's the rest of the Ass family these days?

While your idea isn't terrible, your tact is. Those of us who recommended he take it to the dealership were only trying to help... probably not deserving of being called 'idiots' or 'tards'.

As far as your idea is concerned... while I can't guarantee anything, I'd be shocked if they shell out a single dime. I mean, where would it end? "I was driving along the highway... you know, the part where you're paving... when all of a sudden a rock flew up and chipped my hood! Buy me a new hood now!!"

I hate to say it but... there are certain things we all need to be responsible for. Those manhole covers suck. but they only suck if you drive over them at high rate of speed. otherwise... they're just ugly.

Oh bummer. Don't feel bad I too hit a pot hole in the road over a week ago. Although mine is fine so far. Wish you luck!!

I hate to say it but... there are certain things we all need to be responsible for.

Suggesting he take it to the dealership and have it fixed under warranty is not being responsible. It's not Mazda's fault and it certainly isn't a defect in manufacturing. What you're suggesting is borderline theft.

You could always take the insurance route....pay your deductible, have insurance pay for the repair and then your insurance company will go after the DOT and probably get results quicker than you could. They'll get your deductible back too. If you have rental car coverage on your policy, take advantage of that as well. If it were me, I'd rather let Allstate sick their team of lawyers on the DOT rather than me alone.

I know people that have damaged rims on pot holes and got rims replaced because it was DOT's fault.

Just because you don't have personal experience with the matter doesn't mean the DOT will try to screw you. If they are at fault they will pay.(hand)

Taking it to a dealership is retarded, and anyone who does it is an idiot. Sorry, that's life.(dunno)

So let's recap....

My suggestion (which I shared with a few others) was to take the car to the dealership and see if they would fix it under warranty.

Your suggestion was to file a complaint with the DOT and hope that they pay for the repair.

You said anyone who thought they should bring the car to the dealership was retarded, idiotic and of course, a 'tard'.

I said your idea was sound... but was skeptical as to whether it would work.

In the end... we have 2 ideas that can possibly yield positive results, but neither are guaranteed. Just because your friend (who presumably lives in another state) was able to get his rims fixed doesn't mean that our guy will have the same luck. Since when is dealing with government bureaucracy a first choice anyway? Even if it did work, I'd be SHOCKED if he didn't receive a check until.... oh.... I don't know...2010! lol

The dealership idea on the other hand... yeah, I know it's shady. To the priest who thinks his s*** don't stink... get over yourself. I'm reminded of the glass house analogy so before you throw stones... yeah, you get the point. Again, it's somewhat shady... but it's not like they HAVE to fix it. Conceivably, the damage could have been done without you realizing you drove over a pothole. You then would have noticed that your brand new car was acting funny. Hmm... what to do what to do!! I know! Take her into the dealership! That IS why you have a warranty after all... If they say they can't fix it... oh well. at least you tried. but if they do... (because, unlike the government, these guys are motivated! this is how they make most of their money after all!!) you'll be in and out... won't have to deal with government BS... or the long wait.... and you can get back to enjoying your brand new car.

Someone suggesting ripping off a dealership and me not approving is not me saying that I am priestly in anyway. Get over yourself.

I've never ripped anyone off before, so your glass house analogy makes no sense. As well as your whole justification of bringing it to the dealer.

I hit a hole left by a road construction crew w/ My 00 Eclipse GT a few years ago. It popped my tire and bent my rim. I went back, took pics of the whole I hit and the entire street. Mailed them a letter explaining the incident, the pics and the damages (1 new rim, tire and alignment) They sent me a check for their error....

This isnt Mazdas fault, dont expect them to pay, its the county/DOTs issue

Compounding the deception is how you justify crookery?

I'm perplexed at how you're able to remove yourself as the responsible party in order to justify in your own mind that the dealer is responsible for the repair. You're actually capable of carrying this out sans guilt?
You're such a good/effective liar that you can convince yourself this method of repair is sound?

You can't be serious...

I've hit a pretty mean pothole before.. didn't do anything.. How bad was this manhole?

Hopefully it's just your alignment.

i went down a road in my audi and it was posted for 35 which i was doin and there was another road crossing it and it resulted in my car flying for ahh 10 feet or so and bending a lot of stuff i called penn dot filed a complaint and well its still filed ha they re did the road and never did anything about my car i would get the car fixed and not hold your breath for dot..i would have it checked out by the dealer just say it pulls then when they tell ya whats wrong decide if you just wanna pay to get it fixed or turn in it to insurance...i guess some of us dont have another car to drive for a year while dot goes through all there bs and all there gonna say is ya should of been goin slower and the judge will agree

ugh... maybe you should try reading it again. I wasn't suggesting he brainwash himself into thinking he never hit a manhole... and that the problem just started on his own. I was merely drawing a parallel to what one would do if a problem... if ANY problem were to come up (without them being aware of what caused it.)

Anyway... I'm done with you. You're obviously a tool lookin to start trouble. Go wear your WWJD beads somewhere else.
