Ok, I searched and there isn't a single thread which to direct all of the ATR related discussions yet. Aaronc7 started a thread about jerky throttle response but other than that I haven't found much. Theres a thread or 2 in the MS6 section but its only in the infant stages.

With everything thats been happening with Cobb and the Mazda community I would like to get a thread going where we can all post our ATR experiences and show our appreciation for Cobb to release software like this for us.

So, on with the show. i just received my download email from Cobb and have the software up and running. I'll say i'm terrified to make any changes and flash to the car, so before I do anything stupid lets hear what you guys have been doing.

Aaronc7, can you chime in on the throttle response changes you mentioned?

hey guys i have never tuned a car before or anything.

I think the best way to get started to learn is.... read the documents and open 2 instances of ATR, one iwth stock map, one with your v103 map, and see exactly what tables were changed from stock and how they were changed
 
I have done some fine tuning of the tables aaron posted and flashed them to my car. I basically added more load but kept the linear increase. The car is more responsive and smooth. Just make sure you are careful when you cut and paste and check your work. Its not that hard. This configuration is working great on my car.

^ I tried that configuration yesterday from the other forum and I like how it feels. Much better than than the standard OTS map. The power comes on very linear and and consistently, so far. That sudden on set of torque at partial throttle is gone, no more bucking bronco!

On a side note, ever since I've been running the stage 1 tune I have been seeing between 19-20 psi of peak boost. I think the target boost is 17.5psi. Should I worry about that?

The point of this is for those of us that are newbs when it comes to this can see what changes were actually made and compare that to how the car actually drives now. Like dread mentioned I may want to try and up the values just a bit to see how it feels.


The other changes I have made that I can take credit for is the open loop/closed loop adjustment. I cant say i can feel a difference yet (probably because the throttle smoothing makes such a huge difference) but from what i read from guys that do serious datalogging is that the AFR's are more consistent and enter the safe range much sooner than with the standard configuration. Hopefully in the next few days I will be able to do some logs and see for myself how its working.

*For those wanting to try a configuration that I have been running and so far feels great you can download the file, change the name and load it into your Accessport. Basically its dread's throttle load table, SLS MS3 open loop/closed loop chnages and idle increased to 800 rpms to help with MM vibrations.

I hold 18.5 psi of boost on stage 1+ sri 93 octane, but I get peaks in the 19-20 range. If you are holding that much boost then I would say its a problem but boost spikes are normal. I didn't notice any difference with the closed loop changes so I went back to the ots configurations. Those small changes I made to the throttle load tables seem to have upped the power more than I thought it would. The car is pulling like a beast.

And can you do the same thing and post a new map with the stage 1 MSCAI2 93 octane??

It is designated for the SF intake. I would say that you can run the same map as I posted if you have the MSCAI and run 93 octane.

Honestly, short of having a custom tune done on a dyno, the OTS maps serve their purpose well. They are inherently safe, never overly aggressive and still gives the ECU full reign to take control when the conditions require it to. The changes made to accommodate an intake SRI or CAI are pretty minor and still allow the ECU to adapt to "your" unique setup.

Did you want just the throttle smoothing or the increased idle and open loop/closed loop adjustments as well?

I dont believe those features have been released yet. They will soon though. The last I heard was that Cobb wanted to make sure that ATR went off without a hitch before jumping into something new.

Good choice with the AP, you wont be disappointed!
 
Datalog with knock

I logged a few runs last night to see what the new values are doing. I'm not savvy with excel so I cant convert this to a graph. If any of you can give me some tips, id appreciate it. Anyway, here are some logs. Whats going on?

This one had definite knock and at the rpm level it most commonly occurs for me.

Are the two runs from the same map? You obviously have more KR than I would like in the first run but it's very acceptable in the 2nd run.

What gas and map are you running? I've been running the OTS Stage1+SF 91 octane for a while now and am happy with it but am considering going back to Stage1+SF 93 octane as that map gave me some serious power and boost #s. Peak boost at around 22 PSI and holding 17-19 PSI on 94-octane gas. The only problem I had with the 93 octane map was a bit more knock and sometimes I would run into boost cut.

Yea, I tried to align the headings, but no dice.

They are both the same map, basically back to back runs. 91 octane (76), base map is stage 1 91 v103 with the noted adjustments. Wow, wish we had some 94 oct out here in Cali!

The second run that had the lower knock #'s could be phantom knock because I did not feel any power loss. The first run that had the knock low in the rpm range was definitely noticeable. That happened before making the adjustments as well. I would notice it at low rpms (2800-3500) at the onset of boost only.

That is a lot of knock for WOT. I'm not sure what to tell you if you got it before, but I would avoid going WOT until it is fixed.
 
It is designated for the SF intake. I would say that you can run the same map as I posted if you have the MSCAI and run 93 octane.

Honestly, short of having a custom tune done on a dyno, the OTS maps serve their purpose well. They are inherently safe, never overly aggressive and still gives the ECU full reign to take control when the conditions require it to. The changes made to accommodate an intake SRI or CAI are pretty minor and still allow the ECU to adapt to "your" unique setup.

Did you want just the throttle smoothing or the increased idle and open loop/closed loop adjustments as well?
