MS3 Boost Gauge Install

nice. glad i could help out.

EDIT: hey i just checked that glow shift site and i only saw a pod for the reg 3. if you have a speed you dont want that because the dimensions are different from the reg3 to the speed3 i believe.

I saw that too, but the part number is identical - I was thinking it's the same thing?

*edit* you won't see a part number immediately, but add it to your cart, the paypal window that opens up shows:
"Single Gauge Pod MS3
Item # GS120"

Then on glowshift the pod looks similar/identical to the other one, though it could be a 'stock' photo, and the item number listed is GS-120...

I was thinking GS is glowshift, they've made the part, and crossover is selling the GS piece? Yes?? No - I assumed too much and it's a mere coincidence of part-number-matchingness?

Confirming rotorglow's post.

Is anyone else not seeing the pictures from the original post?

if anyone has any questions besides the explanations just PM me and ill gladly answer.

Thanks. The MS3 in my sig is actually my father (who lives a 400 miles away), and I was trying to find a good boost gauge thread to point him too. But I put a gauge in my MSM, so maybe I'll just help him out the next time I'm down there.

Where in MA are you?

Hey I'm putting in an a-pillar single pod gauge and I wanted to know if anybody knew which wires under the kick panel by the dead pedal to tap, like which is 12v ign and which is an accessory or lights switch so I can tap it to switch between 'day' white and night 'amber'? Anybody done a prosport gauge in this spot?

when i did this yesterday, i tapped a big red wire for the power and a big yellow wire for accessory...

however, this was on the passanger side, and it was a PITA to route the wires over there in a clean fashion...

what i meant to say was that there is probably something similar on the drivers side... but i ran my pressure sensor and vacuum hose through the passenger side so i already had everything apart to run it across...

this may be kinda....duh....but pull the plastic off around the steering column and find the wires that connect to the ignition. i used those to connect my tt but i cant remember which ones exactly. sorry for such little help.

That's decent info - my wires are /just/ long enough to reach to the kick panel bunch, so I'm really hoping to use those so I don't have to take anything else apart. My a-pillar cover was PITA enough!

your gunna have to get some pics of the apillar. i have the dash pods and i was wondering what the apillar would look like installed.

No prob - I'm all over it. Figured the board would want to see that - btw, the glowshift pod is the same as the crossover pod, as I ordered from crossover and it had been cross-ordered from glowshift with stickers on the box and everything. I have some info from Rotus who has been a gentleman helper on which wires to tap, and I /may/ be getting a PM from Cash (hint hint) whose buddy has the wiring diagrams. Either way, it's going in tonight.

Here ya go - they're also in 'appearance' thread and there's a lights off pic as well. I'm really happy with the results.

Under the kick panel near the dead pedal you want to tap an orange wire with a yellow line, and recurring double silver dots. That's an ignition power wire.

Trickiest part of the install was getting the a-pillar off and on, there's a plunger clip at the top that pops out, and is 'in place' pushed in. When you take the pillar cover off it's fine, it pulls it out, but when you put it back on you have to slide the head of that plunger clip/post into this just-as-big-as-the-head slit under the top of the plastic cover. The plunger keeps getting pushed in very easily so you have to get needlenose and pop the ****** back out again. Then start all over - Rotus helped me immensely in the instructional area, as far as how to take stuff apart and such. His tips, however, as far as, "Stand outside the car and look down into your window while you clip the plunger's head into the plastic cover," would work FANTASTIC had I not had about an 8" strip of limo tint atop my front window, effectively making light's journey into my required area impossible. So I did it blindly, and it sucked - but you get the 'hang' of it, believe it or not. Overall, personally, I'm much happier with this install than if I'd had it atop the steering column, beside it as I've seen one person do, or above my stereo on the dash. Also, it's low enough that I'm not interfering with the airbags at all - you'll see them in there just to about halfway down if you pop the a-pillar cover off. If anyone wants to do this and wants info/tips, give me a holler/pm. You can get single pillar pods at:

*************.com - I talked to Rob there, he's a good guy, they're fast, but not so much about the 'communication'

glowshiftdirect.com - the order from crossover came in a box from glowshift, with a sticker, so I know it's a glowshift part

Glowshift is cheaper, but I had a good experience with crossover, so if you order, you know crossover is 'vouched' for - can't say the same myself for glowshift. Good luck, happy trails!
What kinda gauge is that? I love that it matches. Very nice mod dude. I want to do the three in the center and if i could find Oil temp/boost/and AFR that was in red i would be a very happy camper.

It's a Prosport "52mm Amber Performance Gauge". I got electrical over mechanical because I didn't want to run more tubing through my firewall - not lauding one or the other here gauge flamers - I just wanted to run one sender wire through the wall instead of a sender wire and a vacuum tube. You can find the amber selection here:

http://www.prosportgauges.com/amber.php

They have all the gauges you mentioned, just have to find a triple pod now, I know crossover has triple gauge a-pillar pods, and double - somebody has the dash top b/c I've seen them.

As to what color gray I used to paint my pod. After painting it with a Testors spray can of white primer, I then used:

Tamiya Color For Aircraft: AS-2 Light Gray (IJN)

It's in a 100ml net volume can with two star stencils on the front in red and blue. Check this out, hehe:

That's the exact can, if you could see the code at the top you'd see 'AS-2', here's where I linked it from:
