I was just wondering if these rims would fit the offset is 52 on these rims, I can get great deal on these right now, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think so, my 17's with a +55 offset and 225-45's on them hit the base of my strut bars at stock height.

00bluees;5734216i think he has 215/35/18 tire. you can probably go bigger but might need to roll your fenders in the back. easy to do and well worth it.[/QUOTE said:
^ yep, can't go bigger than a 2??/40 on 18s. Just bought a new set of tires for mine and wanted to try 225/35, but I need all the clearance I can get and didn't want to chance it so i stuck with 215/35/18

its the offset that wont allow it to fit, at +52 he is too close to his struts base.
I would say you need at least a 10mm spacers to clear those.

nope. i have an 8" wide rim with a +47mm offset, that gives me 1mm less clearance over the strut body than this propsed setup. my rims have a 50mm offset and *just* touched the strut so i got a 3mm spacer. 10mm spacer is super overkill.

worst case scenario he can run a 3mm spacer since a fender roll is probably in his future anyway.

RX8 wheels fit fine with 215/35-18 tires, and those are 18x8 +50. MS3 18x7.5 +52 with 215/35-18's will fit just fine.

just saying, with a +55 offset on the 17's on my p5, and a tire size of 225/45 both my rear tires were hitting my struts, both at the base and the stem.
looking at them now, even with 5/16 spacers (basically 8mm, making them about +48 offset) gives me less clearance than Im actually comfortable with.
check the images for reference.

(and yes, those are pretty much brand new tires too, wish I had caught it when I first got the car as the rims/tires came with it) :(

you aren't listening... with 215/35-18's they will fit fine. thats a much smaller tire size than your 225/45-17's. MANY people have run 215/35-18's on protege's with ZERO issues. your tires are over an inch taller, and a half-inch wider. you never said the width of your wheels, but even if they were the same width, yours are too big for a protege.

I am listening, it seems you are not, it is the offset Im talking about. my tires clear (barely) with a +48 offset, but they would NOT clear with a +52 offset, so he will need spacers, that was ALL I said, that he would need spacers, maybe I was wrong in my size recommendation for the spacers, but that doesnt change the fact that spacers ARE going to be needed to clear the strut's.
and yes, my tires are an inch bigger than the 35's, but the 18" rims are an inch bigger than my 17" rims, so there isnt going to be a huge difference in the overall diameter.

it is very clear that you do not understand tire sizing, so please don't tell me i dont know what i'm talking about.

your tires:
225/45-17
width - 225mm or 8.86 inches
diamter ((width x aspect ratio x 2) + wheel diameter) = (225mm x 0.45 x 2) + 17 in = 25.0 inches

recommended tire for 18" on a protege:
215/35-18
width - 215mm or 8.46 inches
diamter ((width x aspect ratio x 2) + wheel diameter) = (215mm x 0.35 x 2) + 18 in = 23.9 inches

so, its quite obvious why YOU were rubbing, but its not clear where your argument stands that he will rub with the wheels and tires that he wants to run.

those are slightly rough calculations based on the sidewall size information. to get exact measurements, you have to go to the manufacturer. however, my calculations are close enough for comparison.

Thanks guys I just bought my 10 ms3 rims for $300 its clean no curbs perfect. I'm planning on some 215/35/18 nittos. I was wondering what kind of drop should I go with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Would like to see some pictures to thanks

actually, I do know quite a bit about tire sizing, dont make an assumption based on the fact Ive not used 35r tires before. in my experience, if you go from a 55r to a 45r, you drop about an inch in diameter if staying in the same width range. that said, I also did some research and your correct, that even though the rim itself is 1" larger in diameter, the tire itself is actually smaller in diameter than the 45r on a 17" rim.

good deal! i want pics when you get them on :D

yup.

dude, your an idiot. They will fit, without spacers. Go get those monster truck tires off your car and your wheels will too

what he said

I'm running 215 35 18 on ms3 wheels with no rubbing even fully loaded and I'm lowered 1.8 front .1.6 rear
