MS 6 with single exhaust

Ok I am considering 3 options for exhaust work:

1. 3" cat back (test-pipe or high flow cat upgrade soon) with single exhaust, no muffler, with a resonator

2. 2.5" cat back with dual exhaust no muffler with a resonator

or

3. 3" cat back with dual exhaust, no muffler with a resonator

All 3 will have the same resonator.

I know this set up will probably be loud... which one will be the loudest and which one will give the most power? Also will any of these option make the car have too little back pressure??

Car has the corksport intake/inlet, turboxs bov, AWR motor mount and an ACT 6puck sprung clutch for mods so far. Possible exhaust manifold and downpipe in the near future.

I am doing the exhaust first due to its ease of removal if I do not like it. I would rather not fight with the car in 15 degree weather for 10 hours for a downpipe installation :)

I have a catless downpipe with hf cat built into my 3" catback with a bullet race muffler and to me it's loud but nothing crazy. Your exhaust will be loud but it won't be crazy loud unless you do a catless downpipe. I had a 2.5" catback straight back when I first got my downpipe. I ended up putting the stock exhaust back on due to the fact that it was so annoyingly loud. I would suggest the 3" dual and I think you'd be happy. Then just get a testpipe and you'll be set.

Ended up getting 3" with a resonator and then it's 2.5" after the y-bend.. looks and sounds great.. not too loud. Haven't been able to test the power because we have a snow storm going on now.

can i ask why you went from 3" down to 2.5"?? wouldn't it be better to run the same size all the way through?? sorry but im a newb and tryin to learn as much as possible

Engineering an exhaust to be quiet and produce power is pretty much the same for most 4cyl turbo's.

If you value quiet more than the last 5% of power gain, go with a 2.5" resonated midpipe that pushes into a large 2.5" muffler single-in... and either single 3" out or dual 2.5" out.

If you value more power, go with a 3" straight pipe.

Somewhere in between there is your balance. Go to youtube and watch/listen to all the videos there people have posted of MS3's and MS6's and you've pretty much covered the entire spectrum of exhaust possibilities.

For my 2cents, if somebody would come up with a product that would stealthily/OEM'ily plug the hole in the left-side exhaust cutout that was clean and perfectly matched the OEM plastic, I think dual exit's would probably go away.

When I get ready to do exhaust, I'll be going with a 3" midpipe with a single resonator and 2 smallish Magnaflow universals with 2.5" in/out's. Any local speedshop should be able to weld it up using stock hangar locations. In SoCal, there's nothing wrong with aluminized steel. It's still going to weigh less than the stock s*** and material cost will be 1/2 of stainless. I don't think I'll have any problem staying under $400.

As far as the coupling goes.. I got the exhaust custom made.. Everything is welded from my downpipe back. I have not been underneath to really look at everything.. Sorry
