I don't think they are lying...I'm looking right at my sticker and it says City: 19 HWY: 24 but below that it says, "Actual mileage will very...16 and 22 in the city and between 20 and 28 on the highway."

This seems right to me because whenever I drive the car it gets like 16-18 MPG but whenever my wife drives it, it gets like 21-23 MPG. This tells me its all about who is driving it and how they are driving it.

I agree with you 100%. The only tank I've gotten less than 20MPG on was when I let my husband drive it a couple of times. He mashes the throttle all the time, and just by letting him drive it twice, my mileage dropped to 19.5.

I have been averaging 22 almost religiously, and got over 24 on a recent road trip to California. I've got almost exactly 7800 miles on it right now.

I have been averaging 23 MPG with just over 5,000 miles on my CX7. My last tank was 15.9 gallons in 402 miles; or 25.3MPG. My mileage increased by about 2MPG when I inflated the tires from the dealers 35psi to just under the max 44psi to 42psi.
I live in a mountainous area above 6,000 feet and most of my driving is highway (70 to 75 MPH), about 70% but I spend a lot of time sitting behind tourons (moron tourist) or passing RVs. Running to town yesterday (50 miles) I passed 4 or 5 people which is the norm. Often I am pushing 100 MPH by the time I have passed them. (Love the acceleration). Mileage probably would be higher if I did not do all the passing…But come on would you sit behind someone doing 50 to 60 or even 65 in a 70MPH zone?

I don't recommend doing 100MPh often, think about it what if you had a blowout or lost control. You would put yourself & others at risk for what mere seconds. ehhh not worth it.

I thought if you inflate tires at that pressure you actually create more wear in the center of the tire faster then the rest of the tire.

You only create more wear in the center of a tire if you over inflate it. The tires on the CX7 are rated for 44 psi MAX. 42 psi is note over inflated so it will not create additional wear in the center. Running them at 32 or 35 psi is like running a 32psi tire at 20 psi. You will have more wear on the outside of the tires. many dealers under inflate tires so the car rides better!

100 mph. Ok until a few years ago 100 or 110 on the freeway was common. Until the feds (control freaks) stepped in the speed limit was "Reasonable and Prudent". I miss those days. Chances of having a blowout or losing control at 100 are not all that greater than 70 or 80. It more depends on the road conditions and the condition of the car and experience!
