MPG is no where close to what others are seeing

Hi Mike,
I'd be happy with the 28.4 mpg i was getting. The issue is, I am not anymore. But like you said, it gets very cold here. I am averaging 25mpg everytime. So hopefully, it picks back up in the summer. I do however notice that people with touring awd models (like yourself) are doing much better.

68.7mpg on a 100 mile trip, about 46 elsewhere. tyres set up as if carrying max passengers and load. Very happy.

You really have to go easy on the gas peddle. My last refill averaged 33.3 mpg, 80/20 highway/city.

Do you have a fuelly account so we can convert it from imperial gallons to U.S. Gallons?

Multiply by 5/6ths and you will be very close. Or, in other words, subtract 1/6th from it. So that 54 mpg UK is 45 mpg USA.

Or use .8327 on a calculator.

The Skyactiv engines are a bit different in the UK, aren't they? Aren't they optimized to run on higher octane fuel and have a higher compression ratio (14:1?). Do you use UK 95 (RON) octane? Which I believe is equivalent to 91 in the USA.

So I am not a full tank through yet - about 3/4 - on my '14 GT FWD. The computer average is currently at 29.5. I re-set the averages when I bought the car, just after they had filled the tank at the dealership. I have driven about 200 freeway miles and 100 city, with 90 miles of that in one stretch from Chandler to Tucson. I will do an actual calculation when I fill up, but frankly I am happy so far. Obviously the car isn't broken in yet, but to get close to 30MPG isn't bad. My commute is about 40 miles a day - I drive in on the freeway in the morning for ~12 miles, then ~7 city. Coming home the freeway is a stop and go mess, so I take surface streets for ~19 miles, which is actually faster. I am curious to see how it goes over time, but the small mpg hit for the 2.5 engine appears to be the case.

Indeed they are, resulting in slightly more horsepower from the petrol mill... but according to his signature, dad of jon has the 2.2L Skyactiv-Diesel in his CX-5. Hopefully he isn't using UK 95 (RON)!!

I was getting only 25~26 mpg on my manual transmission CX-5 Sport for the first 6 fill-ups. Then, after adjusting my driving style to slower acceleration and more coasting, my last fill-up came out to 30.1mpg :)

My use of the car is maybe 30% city

Yes both the petrol and the diesel run 14:1 in the uk. 95(ron) is the lowest quality petrol we get, so the petrol is more powerful than the 2.0l petrol in the states.

and yes, I have the 2.2 Diesel.
